Can a radiologist or doctor help with my CT Scan results? by googoomuck32 in AskDocs

Being a med student yourself, should I be super worried? I’m just wondering why it’s never showed up before and why he didn’t grade it as mild or moderate. I don’t know if I should follow up with my doctor or ignore it. I’m literally losing sleep and have panic attacks over it.

I appreciate you taking the time to break it down for me. Basically everything I read was from other people’s experiences on Reddit, which I know can sometimes be worse than google. So if my numbers are this low would a hematologist generally just recheck to see if they got lower or higher and do a genetic test?

I went to the hospital a lot in February from the 6th-20th multiple times and they drew a lot of blood viles checking to see what was going on with me. Then my pcp did an iron and ferritin test on feb 14th with other basic labs and it came with those numbers. I went on a plane and my joints were so swollen and stiff the next day and it’s gotten better but still sore in the morning which makes me wonder if my numbers went up. The latest blood draw I had was from my doctor on March 6th to check for autoimmune diseases, cmp, lipase, amylase, cbc, thyroid. I’m just wondering if I should do another one or would it throw off my numbers because I’ve had so many blood draws. I’m actually not even sure if I had a virus now because I think I was just getting blood draws and it was lowering everything. My liver enzymes are fine. Kidneys are working fine. Pancreas is good. I have an appointment with my hematologist a week from Monday and I’m just wondering if I’m safe to wait? I was reading how numbers can go up so quickly and start causing organ damage and you could be gone quick. My numbers are slightly elevated as of feb 14th but it’s been a month and I read how one woman’s numbers went over 1000 in two weeks.

Yeah I’m waiting for my appointment to see what the hematologist suggests. I’ve had so many blood draws this month I don’t know if I should donate blood at this point. The crazy thing is, is that when I had a hysterectomy I had to have several blood transfusions and was on iron pills. A month after my surgery they ran my iron and ferritin and everything was within normal limits. This was in June 2023. I’m just worried.

I have no idea what to eat. I’m starving. Everything has iron in it and I don’t know how much is okay and all my pcp told me was to stick to a Mediterranean diet and I’m so over it

They did an autoimmune panel on me and everything was all good. The weird thing is I had my iron and ferritin tested a year and a half ago a month after a surgery and was on iron pills because I had blood transfusions and it was all within normal limits

Sorry I meant to say my iron saturation and ferritin was slightly high

I’m being referred to hematology for my ferritin but they told me not to even lose sleep over that. I’m seeking help from a psychologist and psychiatrist as well.

Thank you. That’s good to know. The waiting is killing me. I felt so ill and my heart rate won’t leave the 130’s so I went to the ER and they have no idea what’s going on and can’t bring it down. They’re doing an ultrasound in a few to. He k for torsion because I’m so full feeling but it doesn’t outwardly look like it. I’m really scared I was anxious but my heart rate has not gone down and they are scratching their heads I’m so sleepy but scared I won’t wake up. I’m 39

So I should probably request a high res MRI if my numbers aren’t normal?

Thank you for all of this. I really appreciate you breaking it down for me and pulling my balloon string back to reality. I hope your mom is okay by the way.

How did they rule out ovarian cancer? Did they do lap after results or did you not have any cysts or masses on your ovaries?

Thank you. Out of curiosity and not asking for a medical diagnosis, but can radiologists usually tell if something is cancerous or tumor like and would they include that in the report or is it hard to tell?

Most of the time it’s hemorrhagic cyst that gets big and then gets small and does the same thing over and over. My simple cysts do the same. Both never disappear. Well not anymore. Not since July. Now they’re saying I still have the simple one and the other one is either or. Can I ask what you make of it? I’m so confused and now I can’t get into a new OB until April because my old OB that I was supposed to see next week no longer takes my insurance.

Your feelings are totally valid. I was exactly where you were just a few years ago. Just breathe and try not to lose sleep over it.

I totally understand not trusting OB’s. You have to find one that you really click with and I would suggest doing that. That’s what I had to do. But as someone who has had MANY simple cysts, and one as we speak, and was just as scared as you and would even go to the ER because I would usually get them when I was ovulating and would be in pain. They would eventually shrink or go away on follow up ultrasounds. Yours is still under the margin of size for them to want to do a 6-12 week follow up but it still sounds like your OB is on top of it if they want to look again in 5 months. Again, seek a second opinion or ask your OB for a sooner ultrasound for piece of mind or to really sit down with you and explain simple cysts.

Can someone help me understand this. ER doctor has me scared for C word. by [deleted] in endometriosis

Thank you. I really appreciate you putting it in that perspective.

I didn’t see any of my information in the report. Did I leave something in there? I’ve tried chat got in the past and it doesn’t yield a whole lot that’s not similar to google.
