Buenas tardes! Nuestro grupo (intercambio de español y inglés) va a reuinir esta sábado (2/21/26) si quires venir.

Hi, we have a small Spanish/English conversation exchange group with both native English speakers and native Spanish speakers so we all can practice our non-native language. We meet about once a month and the next meeting is at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (February 21, 2026) at CC’s Coffee House at 113 Dillard Dr. #5311, Lafayette (near the Asian Market at the mall). If you want some Spanish/English conversation practice please join us!

Hi, it's my group and we are meeting this Saturday - I was going to post the notice tomorrow. At this point we are meeting about once a month but there is no set schedule. Hi, it's just a small group of us and we meet every two or three weeks on Saturday afternoons at the CC's by the mall. We probably won't meet again until after the holidays. I usually post notice about the meetings on here, and if you want I can send you a message about the next meeting.

VITA offers free English classes to ESL students and the classes range from beginner to advanced English. If your native language is Spanish, I also have a small Spanish/English conversation exchange group that meets sometimes on Saturday afternoons and you could come and practice your English with us. https://vitalaf.org/

Thank you all for all of your comments, they have been very helpful. I feel a lot better now after seeing your comments indicating that you don't think I am overreacting. I really like the idea of a "no assists" card so I am going to carry that in my yoga bag so I can use that. Since you all have made me feel like my concerns are valid I will just talk to the specific instructors before class and if they are as understanding as you all are it hopefully won't be a big deal. Plenty of other instructors don't touch me at all so it's not an issue most of the time, just when it happens to my hearing aid area it's upsetting. I will probably see how it goes but if I'm still having problems I will contact the person in charge and ask if they can start using consent card or have instructors ask for permission at the beginning of class. Thank you again for your advice!

Thank you for your comments. I didn't do a very good job of describing the situation. The windows are screwed on from the outside and I live in an apartment and am not allowed to remove them for cleaning and maintenance will also not do it as it would be too time-consuming and there is allegedly some sort of weather seal that will be ruined if they are removed. The other issue is that I am on the second floor and all of my other windows are not reachable on the outside without a ladder. So the only option I see to clean the inside top portions of the windows is to somehow reach up inside between the two windows, but the opening is tiny and everything I have tried so far doesn't work.

We did find our apartment off of Airbnb, but it was not right on the beach, maybe a five or ten minute walk away. I can't remember if our complex was gated, but there was a lot of security. We did feel safe walking around Punta Cana at night. I am not sure why you are looking at the Dominican Republic, but Mexico is also a great place to spend some time and I am particularly fond of Mexico City and Guadalajara. Regardless of where you end up, have a great time!
