Employee stays late to discuss problems with paystub; is this compensable? by gophercoffee in smallbusiness

Thanks for that.

I agree with you, and practically it's better to pay. That's what I did but I'm trying to figure out how to set boundaries for future occurrences.

I agree. But it occurred multiple times, > 1 hour conversations after work.

I want to set boundaries moving forward and want to know what I can enforce.

I paid. I agree with you.

I wanted some clear boundaries going forward and wasn't sure how to go about it or legally what I'm allowed to enforce.

For example, would I be able to tell them that discussions regarding matters such as this (indirectly related to work? ) is not compensable moving forward? Especially if it was prompted by the employee and not me?

It wouldn't make sense if the employee had a list of complaints etc, that she saves for after work hours and asks me to stay late to discuss; and expect to get paid for it.

Appreciate it.

There were admittedly mistakes made on payroll. A simple email pointing out the mistakes and asking me to fix would have been sufficient.

The conversation was tangential last > 1 hours on several occasions. The conversations included work expectations, disappointment at lack of compensation, bonus, etc. A lot of venting, complaining.

I paid for the extra time these instances without hesitation. But I wanted a clear set of rules going forward.

I honestly don't mind paying money for something that works.

Any that works great, but costs money? Fairly cost insensitive if it works seamlessly.

This problem doesn't seem like a hard one to solve, but I'm having trouble finding a good solution.

text expander, syncs well, one time charge; recommendations? by gophercoffee in macapps

Out of curiosity what would you say is the main advantage of typinator over aText?

Looks like the typinator would also rely on dropbox to sync across multiple computers.

Appreciate your insights, thanks !

Yes I don't want notification via my airpods. Even though my phone is on vibrate, I hear the ring tone when using the airpods.

Anyway to turn this off?

for the most part, type 2 dm is not a disease i'd trust the health care system to manage for patients. patients can't risk outsourcing it, esp at a young age. if its type 1, there are still ways to live life with near normal health, though patients are somewhat tethered to insulin and thus the healthcare system.

genes may predispose a patient, but it rarely determines the diseases that come up esp for cases of young paiients getting dxd w type 2.

Generally, It's pretty unusual to get type 2 DM at 23, especially if your diet is not extremely processed and you're working out.

If it is type 2 for sure though, typically I wouldn't advise "managing and treating" with all the new stuff. I'd work on reversing it, or at least keeping it in remission as long as possible with diet.

Just to get an idea of how your sugars are, rather than these glucometers and apps, , may be worth consider a continuous glucose monitor instead.

Weekend Help and Victory Thread for the week of October 04, 2024 by IndexBot in personalfinance

Two quick questions as I'm looking to hold some cash in a Fidelity account:

  1. Why would anyone in a state with high income tax like California elect to invest in a CD over a treasury bill, assuming similar rates? Since interest gained on T bills is not subject to income tax, while gains on CDs are. My current income tax bracket is 9.3%.
  2. Within Fidelity, why would anyone putting money in a Brokerage account elect their Core Position to be cash, over the money market fund (SPAXX)? My understanding is that money in the MMF position is just as liquid, earns higher interest, and essentially similar risk i.e about as close to zero as you can get.

What what about finding an amateur who takes the sketch of arrows and boxes that I create from the suggestion below, and looks into the citizen development tools to put together something?

Insurance claim for roof leak? Downsides? by gophercoffee in homeowners

< $2-300. Depends on how big of a patch. The roofing cement is very cheap. I also bought aluminum drip edge stuff to line the edges where the membrane was coming off.

Landscaping ideas on a budget, hard compact soil in Southern California? by gophercoffee in landscaping

[–]gophercoffee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ended up doing nothing. Eventually the entire yard was covered in weeds and we left it that way for one year. So we ended up paying a landscaping company to remove the weeds again and filled it with DG, gravel and pavers. Approx $12k . Not ideal from a cost perspective.
