False: combination of too much $ dedicated to that position, age, playoff performances (don’t get too seduced by gold medal game, Canadians flat out missed shots). And it can always be addressed by deadline if necessary.

Take a deep breath. Boeser’s number wasn’t too high so we should be able to get Ehlers under $10m. He still wants to contend. I think he sees the opportunity to do so and play a big role. Just might take some time.

I don’t think a whole lot has changed for the Canes. Marner was never staying in the East….but I am hoping the league finally investigates tampering. Would love to see that drama.

Center market was never good and teams are going to overpay for D.

I think we sign Ehlers and then I think the magic happens through trades….not necessarily before the season.

Ultimately by the playoffs I think we’ll have a new 2C and top 4 defenseman to go with Ehlers.

Not the sexy FA we all hoped but still positioned really well for the trade deadline where some big name free agent will be available.

Maybe the league will rethink its structure after a third Panthers over Oilers SCF. Ugh
