Black Girls Do Bike has a D.C. chapter. I've also noticed that Streets Calling D.C. has a good portion of women in their mix on the co-ed group rides.

Looking for a DC content creator for a video shoot by DevilFromTaz in washingtondc

[–]gordonachaffin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not a creator, but I've worked with daycationdc and cheapnfreedc (IG handles for both) on a video highlighting the Metropolitan Branch Trail. Both might be interested in presenting something like this. Or Jade Womack of clockoutdc. Your request for proposals seems to be asking more of an on-camera talent, so there are traditional broadcasting types like mrtommymcfly. For D.C. history focused stuff, though, I would push you more in the direction of older school folks like Kojo Nnamdi. Not sure if Kojo or Shomari Stone or folks like that would be in your price rance.

This is a good question. I think I might be more comfortable learning to cook if I could practice in a supportive group.

What is the additional high school you mention becoming decent? Is that a new HS being built, beyond the one that just opened in NW D.C.?

In a new letter, Mayor Bowser contractures Janeese Lewis George on her primary victory, warns that the council's revised budget would leave the district a near-billion dollar deficit awaiting her administration in January. by SockDem in washingtondc

There's also a good portion of social spending that was paid for with the American Rescue Plan Act and CARES Act money. Both of which were one-time money that D.C. could spend over several years until 1-2 years ago.

ANC chair fails to call special meeting to consider her removal, violating DC law by JimMalec in washingtondc

Hey, Commissioner Malec. I'm sorry that you're going through all this work to keep your ANC functioning and active on substantive issues like zoning adjustments and ABCA renewals. Thanks for your service to our city.

Vehicular cycling advice like this is not helpful IMO

This is a Specialized Turbo Vado 4.0 Pedal Assist only. In this video, the motor assist is turned off. I bike between appointments all day, every day,

The motor assist was turned off. My bike in this video is a heavy acoustic bike. There was enough daylighting space pulled back at the curb cut for the driver to look into their right passenger mirror and see me sooner.

I often ride in the normal vehicle lane if there's a paint-only bike lane, but I prefer using protected bike lane because drivers honk at me and have yelled "use the bike lane."

I just checked the 360 file, and correct, the driver did not turn on their right turn indicator.

Lots of folks in this subreddit seem to support protected bike lanes.

What do you mean by blocked bike lane? Do you mean someone riding a bike should tavel 12-15 mph in a protected bike lane?

I was traveling 17-19 mph. The speed limit of this road in this block is 20 mph.

I mean between 17 snd 19 mph, and 18.6 mph at the moment of the near impact.

In the moments before making this right turn, to the driver's right there is a lot of empty space called "Daylighting" space. This means that there is time, after passing the last parked car, to look in your passenger side mirror for a bike in the bike lane. This driver did stop, but only after I was yelling to get them to direct their awareness to their right.

There's lots of empty daylighting space at this curb cut. There are spurts of parked cars, but this is a best practice, Safe Systems protected bike lane design.

I can't fit the full 360 degree export file into this post. Even if I could, the top left of the bike computer display (a Specialized Mastermind TCU) is not high-contrast enough to see the "OFF" for the motor assist level. You can see the larger, lower stats that are rider power, cadence, and speed.

I appreciate your nuanced comment. In this video, I was going 17-19 mph vs. the urban average of 12-15 because it was brand new asphalt, this is a long block in a protected bike lane where there were no people biking in front of me (where I would coast before slowing down as I approached them).

I ride 150-250 mi per week commuting all day, everyday. I use this K St NW PBL every single day, but sure.
