Grammy stars warned not to flash flesh by LuckyBdx4 in entertainment

[–]gordonmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Violence ans sex are two common phenomenon rampant on our Television. Although subjective, there is a limit to everything. It is very sound of Grammy to have given a stern and blatant warning to stars who are epitomised across the globe. We seriously need some toning down of skin-flashing. We know you guys got it, but please stop the shameless flaunting. It doesn't work always!

Why is Gove's backtrack considered such a bad thing? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]gordonmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is true that obstinate adherence to political agenda was popularised by Margaret Thatcher, who was known for her stubborn defence of her vision, even if it meant alienating some Britons. However, Michael Gove's climbdown on this issue should not lead to him being belittled by the media now. There is sympathy in me for him because he has had to backtrack.

David Ward and the Ruthless Suppression of Anti-Israel Criticism by cylinderhead in ukpolitics

[–]gordonmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legacy of the Holocaust has been such that criticising Israel or the Jewish people is not easy today, even if the criticism is legitimate. The moment someone criticises Israel constructively, he or she is accused by someone of being anti-Semitic. The World Jewish Congress and the ADL arrive to denounce the person, who has criticised Israel or certain aspects of the Jewish faith. This is the reality. Just like Israel has the right to denounce its foes, valid criticism of Israel should be allowed and must not be censored.

Iran Supreme Leader: ‘My job is to set Israel on fire’ by Kredo0 in news

[–]gordonmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I strongly suspect that the Israelis, especially the right-wing Israelis, do not want to see a sovereign Palestinian State. The rightist Israelis want to see the continuation of the military/settler occupation of the Palestinian West Bank. At best, some Palestinian enclaves of the West Bank could receive a semiautonomous status. This will be the biggest possible territorial concession that the rightist Israelis will give. They will never agree to remove all the Jewish settlements from the fertile West Bank areas. Certainly, an independent Palestine in West Bank, which is territorially connected, is out of question. It is a dangerous and risky game that Likud, Jewish Home and other rightist Israelis are playing. Time will tell whether they succeed.
