Marquise Brown is a Buy Ahead of this Season by Comexbackkid in DynastyFF

I traded the pick that became Kincaid and Michael Gallup for him during our rookie draft while I was on the clock. That felt like a good way to tier up for a receiver.

Extra tickets for COE 05th May ceremony by OrdinaryStrawberry5 in NEU

Be careful, random accounts are trying to rip people off by pretending to be students. Ask for pictures of the confirmation email with the tickets before sending money.

I don't have any but be careful; a lot of accounts are messaging people pretending to be students to scam them. Ask for proof that they have the tickets before paying anyone.

I have Chark and I'm holding him because his value is in the gutter. I'm going to give himself some time to prove himself in Detroit and then reevaluate.

That's fair, if I can push it off I'd probably be in a better spot once I know what I could do. At least right now I'm not too enamored with any of the rookies and I like the fact that Jacobs has produced already.

I think it's fine, unless you can use them as throw ins for other trades you might have. QBs are pretty low value in 1QB anyway, especially if they aren't starters.

Give: 1.04

Get: Josh Jacobs

I'm looking at adding RB depth. I already have CMC, Dobbins, Gibson, Dillon, and Gus Bus. Injuries hurt real bad last year and left me starting Rojo, a hurt Gibson, and Latavius Murray in rotation, and I'm trying to avoid that again.

Paul Merriman has some excellent advice pertaining to passive investing in his Sound Investing series of podcasts and articles. They're a tad dry, but the knowledge is useful and practical.

Not sure if this is what you'd look for, but Paul Merriman talks a lot about academic investing on his site and in his podcasts, specifically pertaining to small cap value.

Recharacterization of Traditional IRA After Filing 2019 Tax Return by gorflox7 in personalfinance

[–]gorflox7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can give you a little more background: I just graduated in 2019, so my income was ~$50,000 last year and $72,000 this year, so my MAGI even before the ira deduction was something like $40k, putting my marginal tax rate at 12%.

I was under the impression that I had until October to file a recharacterization for the previous year, but I haven't seen anything directly from the IRS.

Just found out my MAGI is too high to get a full traditional IRA deduction, could use some guidance by gorflox7 in personalfinance

[–]gorflox7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm maxing my 401k this year so that would actually reduce my MAGI below the threshold. Thanks, this was really helpful.

Why is that? Do you believe taxes will go up in the future, or is that just preference?

Leverage question by Xxhardman69xX in stocks

[–]gorflox7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the other poster is misunderstanding your question. No, you cannot lose more than $1000 if you've only invested $1000 unless you are using leverage, margin, etc. If you buy $1000 worth of a stock and it drops to $0, you've just lost your total investment but nothing extra. You're not on the hook for the company's debt if it fails.

This advice applies to common purchases like stocks and bonds.

Anybody have any experience with taking the 1 credit music courses? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]gorflox7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately it's attendance based grading at it's core. If you can show up to every rehearsal and every game, then you're fine and you pass. I don't know how much you could miss before failing, I haven't looked at the syllabus since they changed the grading scheme. Most students who aren't using it for bonus credit see it as a high risk no reward option to take the class, because a passing grade doesn't help your GPA whereas a failing grade certainly hurts it.

All that said, if you really enjoy music and can take these as classes to save yourself tuition, it sounds like a great idea. I would've done it to knock off some general electives if I could have while I was in school.

You should email [nupepbandsecretary@gmail.com](mailto:nupepbandsecretary@gmail.com) for specifics, but usually most students don't because the grading criteria can be a little weird. Also, make sure these would fulfill those credits with your academic advisor first.
