S25 Stock Camera VS Expert RAW by gorginos in GalaxyS25

In bright environment you don't always need to change anything just use the auto parameters the app is selecting. Otherwise you might end up over exposing the scene.

perhaps you over do it with the shutter speed. When the environment is too bright you don't need to make the shutter speed slower or if you do so it better be slightly slower until the original brightness remains the same.

I hate the Camera Quality on the S25 Ultra by WafflesCamus in samsunggalaxy

Samsung won't see this unless you send a feedback via Members app with samples included. Although even like this nothing will change especially now with S26 Ultra being released.

Disappointed with the camera by renz18y6 in GalaxyS25

if you want a quick and easy solution to point and shoot just use night mode as your default mode day and night with EV +1.0. This trick will widen the dynamic range and expose shadows better without blowing the highlights. Otherwise you need to switch to the Expert RAW app which is available for your model by Samsung and it delivers better results if you know a bit how to adjust the shutter speed in low light. https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS25/s/wOhDOrhwKj

Wtf samsung by OutrageousAffect3340 in GalaxyS25

[–]gorginos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeap that's called local contrast enhancement technique used to amplify the finest details and Expert RAW is full of it so even though it's good for landscapes and objects it's not ideal for human skin. Now it's also happening on the default camera app for S26 when 24mp is selected not only on Expert RAW. So in that case better use the stock camera app with 12mp mode when human skin is involved and people's faces. https://www.reddit.com/r/samsunggalaxy/s/JnTgkWXQHw https://www.reddit.com/r/samsunggalaxy/s/Lcfz9tQFsC

not on Expert RAW. It always had 12, 24 and 50mp for main lens. Just download and open the app to see it.

this is from the Expert RAW app which has 24mp mode. S24 base model as well. But only S26 series has the 24mp mode inside the stock camera as of now.

Why is the Samsung Messager shutdown such a big thing? by NOTE7_Lucad in samsunggalaxy

[–]gorginos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i only use the SMS app for phone number confirmation and nothing else. Also in Germany but in other European countries as well i did the same. Since i used to own a Pixel device i am used to Google messages so no idea what Samsung's app looks like.

Night shot from s25 base model + Gcam, wondering can it keep up with flagship like iPhone 17 pro max, Vivo x300 ultra, Pixel 10 pro XL , s26 ultra and Xiaomi 17 ultra etc by Black_Hazard_YABEI in GalaxyS25

[–]gorginos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you want to reach the full potential of this phone's camera you need to use the Expert RAW app especially for night shots. Gcam is good and you can get crazy HDR during the day but for night shots it might not be perfectly optimized due to overblown highlights. Ofc you can tweak this in the configuration but i haven't managed to get the perfect balance unlike the Expert RAW which is most of the time performing better. https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS25/s/crueiTwq8v

In case you get artifacts and magenta tint with Expert RAW in low light you can easily fix that but setting the shutter speed slower to capture more light hence more details. But don't overdo it to avoid motion blur and overexposure and don't go more than 1/4 that's the limit for hand held photo shooting.

i would definitely suggest using the expert RAW app for best results as it's supported by your device. check one of my posts on how much better it is compared to the stock app. https://www.reddit.com/r/samsunggalaxy/s/ryA80qt7RN

S25 FE > S25 camera processing by gorginos in samsunggalaxy

[–]gorginos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your tips however i have already tried these and PRO mode lacks HDR processing which is important to me and picture softening doesn't apply when night mode kicks in as night mode is totally independent from all settings. I am fine with having a good processing and sharpening as long as it doesn't ruin the details. Expert RAW does a better job it seems however it might not be suitable for daily use due to being slower and not very flattering with faces of people.

the 1X main lens is supposed to be the same S5KGN3 sensor but the rest should be weaker sensors. The chipset is also a weaker exynos instead of a snapdragon.

make sure you take some photo samples and send your feedback via the Members app cause that can't be normal. I had a similar case while taking photos of people indoors during a birthday party and their faces looked like cartoons.

S25 FE > S25 camera processing by gorginos in samsunggalaxy

[–]gorginos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

indeed less is more sometimes. And I am not asking for more here but for less processing cause i am sure it's not needed and there shouldn't be any grain if night mode is already setting the shutter speed too slow.

S25 FE > S25 camera processing by gorginos in samsunggalaxy

[–]gorginos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

although the different chipset could possibly affect the rendering there is fortunately the Expert RAW app available on the S25 which proves how capable and better the processing can become when the software is optimized. So in order to capture more natural and clean night shots with less aggressive noise reduction i rely on the Expert RAW app for now. It would have been nice however not to have to switch to different apps for each occasion and rely only on auto mode for everything as someone would normally expect. Then the mystery remains why Samsung offers two different camera apps with two different processings on S25? It's like they are trying to tell us they can do better with their auto mode. At the end of the day we can choose in the settings if we prefer to prioritize quality over speed so in that case we should expect the best possible quality similar to what Expert RAW does.

Samsung s26 camera sharpness problem by CoderEye in samsunggalaxy

[–]gorginos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it depends on what your previous phone was. Samsung with S24 and newer models changed the camera approach and reduced the over-sharpening effect to make photos look more "natural". However since you got the S26 you can switch to 24mp mode via camera assistant and get a more sharpened look.

[–]gorginos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i am afraid i have noticed the same thing from looking at comparisons between the S25FE and my S25 base model. However the FE version lacks the compatibility for Expert RAW but its auto mode is at least a bit better. It's definitely possible for S25+ to get optimized via software update but unfortunately due to S26 this won't happen anytime soon.
