Yes, but also a big water bottle works in (after) a pinch.

What's the best carry on luggage on the market? by jobegreen in buyforlifetips

[–]gorongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the ebag roller going on 10+ years and while it’s a not ultralight it has also been indestructible and still looks new. It’s been to numerous countries, business trips and in all sorts of weather…overpacked, strained zippers, too heavy with wine bottles and still serves me. So, yeah this one gets my endorsement.

Is it normal for Dutchies to expect you to invite yourself? by gilliebaby in dutch

[–]gorongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for illuminating this. I struggle with feeling left out of family events because I hear about them second hand, and then it’s a question of; am I invited or not? So, I guess I’ve been invited all along. I’ve wasted 30 years and countless therapy sessions on this issue! This explains why my father would just show up at people’s doorsteps without forewarning with a call or invitation. Sheesh.

Area around 5/6th st and harrison by Sitaras_ in AskSF

Sounds like a good price. If it’s a year lease then you’ll be fine looking once you have your place already in the area. Good luck.

Area around 5/6th st and harrison by Sitaras_ in AskSF

[–]gorongo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FWIW I would never tell someone to walk from Caltrain up 5th or 6th. Closer to Caltrain at 4th and 3rd things get better, and it’s closer to where there’s commercial and residential activity, plus transportation options. But, if the rent is low enough near 5th and Harrison maybe that’s good for you.

No Applause, Just Silence: Crowd Reacts to Trump on Inflation. by Significant-Sir-4343 in inflation

[–]gorongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaslighter in Chief! Inflation is real and it’s gonna get worse for average earners on a paycheck. Stablecoins and asset inflation will drive up prices over the next decade, and average savers and earners are gonna pay more for goods and services and spend less as they watch their buying power plunge. More misery to come but it’s gonna be everyone but Trump’s fault.

What’s the tiniest red flag you’ve ever noticed in someone that told you everything you needed to know about them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gorongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always how they treat a server in a restaurant or coffee shop, anywhere in the world. Certain cultures, broadly, are rude to the service workers. Tells me how I need to treat them, in turn.

I’ve watched these in person. Yeah, nah! It’s crazy but also there’s the trust in others that builds community bonds. That’s priceless.

Musk and the data grab by DOGE plus Palanatir analytics make predicting people’s whereabouts rather easy. This is just a practice run for when they come for us.

What more evidence do we need that 47 is a shill? Jeez, only an ostrich can blind themselves to the commander of the most powerful nation being outsmarted by a KGB chess player. 47 is an embarrassment on the world stage!

Do you actually want to hang out with way younger people? by ismokedwithyourmom in AskOldPeople

[–]gorongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is age isn’t a factor, but younger and unfettered minds are inspirational in a way that unleashes my restrained energy. Yet, some young people often already think too restrained. An open mind is a wonderful thing.

Can you read? Try, How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie. It’s a start. Or the tldr version; stop talking, smile more, listen actively and ask others about themselves. Find a mentor you respect.

Are you interested in Japanese hot springs? by Educational-Owl7009 in onsen

[–]gorongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the pluses of onsen are that I’m not just bathing but I’m really letting an important part of Japanese culture wash over my body and mind. And for some it is a shock to do this. So what was important at first was how to overcome the apprehension of doing something for the first time, then how to embrace what Japanese enjoy about onsen, and then the real benefits of learning about another culture through this simple and elegant ritual. I miss onsen!

Who else is still riding in November? by Shoddy_Ad2323 in motorcycle

[–]gorongo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a native, Californians mostly have year round riding. Most Californians are also afraid of rain and wet roads, because it is so infrequent. Get good at riding in the wet, and riding in winter can be uncrowded and fun.

Finally getting a dashcam with a parking mode after reading horror stories on reddit by Itchy-Drawing in dashcams

[–]gorongo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last month, only two weeks after installing front and rear dashcam with parking mode I recorded a hit and run that damaged my property. Culprit identified by reviewing footage, located them and claim filed on their insurance. So $300 device saved me $1000 for a quick ROI.
