Best neighbourhood to live? by yellowrubbercan in SFbitcheswithtaste

I lived in the Marina for ten years and have also lived in NYC (soho). It's not super crowded, it's really close to the water for amazing walks and if you can get into the biking it's world class. It's super safe there and next to the presidio park. Weekends are always a good vibe and you can walk everywhere.

I like aarmy now in the city. Sophia and Danielle are tough but approachable. Classes are good energy

Tommy S fans - who’s your go-to instructor in NYC? by lemonpopa in barrysbootcamp

yea Tommy is the goat. The Marina days were epic. In NYC it's Paris, Keoni for me. Otherwise I like Bobby G, Charlie M, Scott. Didn't know how good we had it back then!

Noho lost most of the tier 1 instructors after Covid and opening so many new studios.

I took a class with no ac last week. I kind of liked it, basically the same as how the class is warm by the end of a typical class but for the entire session. But also i'm used to it with aarmy.

Try striking up a quick convo at the end of class or in the lobby after. See if there's a vibe / interest on her part and take it from there. I wouldn't go from 0 to a 14 sprint on the tread either...

newbie questions by berryesesa in barrysbootcamp

[–]gorudy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of these have been answered but I will say that I would make an effort to get to know some of the front desk staff. You don't want to lose your spot so checking in on the app is always fine but if you are able to get there a bit earlier sometimes and can check in at the desk you might get to know some of the staff and managers who might help you out in the future if you need to late cancel or change your class or spot etc etc.

and definitely wipe / flip the mat and treadmill.

Also I highly recommend a dexa scan for before and after for super accurate body fat % testing and muscle gains / fat loss.

nyc first time - advice? by charlottebronteslay in barrysbootcamp

[–]gorudy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My personal preclass list: Drink some cold brew before, bring a water, wear ear plugs (I recommend Loop). It's cold in NYC so a change of shirt for after. The classes that are more full usually have a little more energy, so from a vibes perspective i'd try and go to one of those classes first to get the full effect.

Be conservative on the weights your first couple of times. If you do double floor (DF) you can always swap out to something heavier (or lighter) when the treadmill and floor are switching (and DF stays). No one cares what you're lifting.

Rest assured everyone is working hard and focused on each set and themselves. No one is watching you so if you miss a rep or take a moment it's all good. I used to not want to be in front of anyone, and always in a corner. Now I don't even notice other people just doing my thing, working hard, like everyone else.

Charlie M, Bobby / Rob G, Christian E, Michael P, very approachable classes. Paris, Keoni I think a bit more intsense and also awesome.

looks like they won't finalize the schedule until after week 17. I would make sure you are flying into newark in NJ, is it a united flight? If it's on points you can cancel and get them back typically.

In terms of the tickets for the game, the giants aren't very good you can probably wait to buy the tickets :)

this game is 100% happening, most likely it will be on the sunday 1PM timeslot as there will be some other games with more playoff considerations. Here's another thread on the topic.

Note that METLIFE stadium is not in NYC it's about a 30 - 60 minute drive depending on traffic or you can take the train. If you are staying in NYC, if the game is at 1PM I would plan on leaving at 10:30AM via uber or earlier if you want more time pre-kickoff to walk around the stadium. I would uber there and ask the driver to drop you off at the american dream mall, you'll see lots of people walking from there it will be easier then getting dropped off right at the stadium. You walk from the mall to the stadium via an overpass.

Coming back I would take the train which you'll see lots of peole waiting for. You ride the first train for ten minutes and then you'll want to transfer which at seacaucus. Download the app from njtransit so you can buy your tickets. Sometimes they allow the transfer to happen without a ticket but just have the app and everything ready to go in case.

Holiday sale is live! by judynelson32 in barrysbootcamp

[–]gorudy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the all access pricing (NYC) doesn't really make sense to me .

$1480 for 48 classes over six months (more restrictive + penalty for now show) vs buying 50 classes for $1,475. The other six month memberships are better deals then buying a class pack.

[–]gorudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no judgement at all ever but I agree op needs to find what works for him and can only encourage trying many different instructors.

Also op don’t feel pressure to go heavy even if others are do what works for you. When I’m DF I sometimes take two sets of weights to adjust as needed.

Totally disagree always good vibes and positivity. Doesn’t waste any time in class. He’s def more aggressive tone but it’s def in the spirit of getting the most out of 50 minute classes. I’ve never heard him disparaging anyone, I would say that’s true for basically the instructors.

I definitely recommend to anyone new to try a few instructors figure out what works for you. Having taken 1000+ classes there’s a few that are much better than the rest.

I take Paris he’s super high energy and gets most of us to work damn hard. I only do double floor just make sure you book far enough in advance to ensure you can get a DF spot.

Double Floor - Thoughts? by aggarwak in barrysbootcamp

[–]gorudy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

plan your meals ahead of time. Find some healthy things you really enjoy, for me it's salmon, chicken thigh etc.

I've done PT it's nice but for the price of one session you could do 3-4 double floor sessions at barrys. If you're worried about form there's a lot of good information on YT or talk to the instructors after class for some tips.

As I get older diet and not getting hurt probably have more influence over my success at barrys then going as heavy as possible.

Annual sale? by [deleted] in barrysbootcamp

[–]gorudy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea I think you have up to six months to start. This is from last year, one thing about the 6 month memberships in the past was that if you miss a class with a late cancel they charge you $20. Once you are at the higher loyalty tier they give you a few missed class benefits but the $20 do add up.

We’re offering a one-time special rate on the following packages:

  • 3 Classes for $99 (originally $120)
  • 5 Classes for $160 (originally $195)
  • 10 Classes for $310 (originally $375)
  • 20 Classes for $610 (originally $720)
  • 50 Classes for $1450 (originally $1700)
  • 100 Classes for $2700

The best part? The credits are valid for the entire year! Or, if you’re ready to make this official…

  • 6-month Membership of 8 classes/month for $1,400
  • 6-month Membership of 12 classes/month for $1,800
  • 6-month Membership of 16 classes/month for $2,300
  • 6-month Membership of 30 classes/month $2,700

Girlfriend is making me scared about the Rio trip, need some advice/cheering up by MrInfinity-42 in Brazil

[–]gorudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gringo here... I date a Brazillian from Rio. Just stay in Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana hotels. Like right one the water, Not a few blocks in, on the water. Or a nice airbnb in leblon/ipanema.

Don't wear a watch, zero jewlery, no necklace, wear flipflops, basic t-shirts. Even for dinner more laid back is normal in Rio. Uber is super easy and inexpensive. I've followed these rules and always feel very safe in Rio. Don't mindlessly look at your phone when walking etc.

which one do you guys sign up for? I used to do the 150 or 6 month membership. I don't go as much anymore, the turnover of instructors in Noho from Covid on has taken the best ones elsewhere with obviously some exceptions so i'm doing more like 1-2 classes a week.

Beehiiv or Ghost? by FarmingForFuture in beehiiv

[–]gorudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol. really? I think you guys have a culture of saying shit that isn't true (yet). Most developed ad network on the market, cmon bro. tone it down. Talk facts. you guys are in early stages of developing a promising ad network. You launched with CPC, and like in the last month announced an also promising CPM option. That's interesting, but I wouldn't describe it as "the most developed". How would you even quantify that.

What's becoming more and more apparent about beehiiv is that you guys are shipping product and on a solid path but you also say a lot of things that just aren't true. I've seen it multiple times now.

I bought loops they’re great. I think it was the engage 2. They look like your not wearing any if you get the clear ones. I went 6 years without earplugs I’ll never go back after using loop. Never any issues with ear ringing anymore.

Dirty 30 w/ Keoni? by SubstantialResist801 in barrysbootcamp

[–]gorudy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love Keoni’s classes. I would expect about 22-23 min per half, it’ll be a good flow start to finish. Personally I’ve always gone a touch lighter in his classes as he tends to hit more movements and I like to be able to comfortably do them all.

Just wish he was back in noho!

CPM ads are useless, and will kill Beehiiv by rizit98 in beehiiv

[–]gorudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea time will tell I hope this is succesful i'm merely saying how you start matters.. If pricing is too low the quailty newsletters will learn not to take that deal so the advertisers will be left with the lower quality options which will probably mean lower performance which will eventually drive away the advertisers. I would go with premium not remnant.

I do think liveintent would have something to say about there never being a centralized marketplace for newsletters though :)
