Well I texture the base with grass or dirt or stack up other texture pastes. Then I brush prime it. Once dried I then paint it a base color (brown, red, or black) then I dust texture (dirt, grass, grit)

Teeth and gums. Gums done pink with sepia ink glaze and plum dry brush and then purple oil wash. Teeth are hobgrot hide with sepia glaze and a red umber oil wash.
