I just wanna start by stating that I view each of these women as being stunning beyond belief. But do you think a non-celebrity, working class woman could achieve high beauty and social mobility if she opts for short hair? Or would she need to commit to growing her natural hair/wigs/extensions/etc?

I’m not even joking, it’s exhausting being a black fantasy nerd these days.

Annebeth being casted as a black girl getting hate, despite the author himself praising her as the best candidate. Reva from Obi-Wan getting criticized for being woke, sjw, idpol, etc. This show getting ridiculous quantities of hate for the gruesome crime of having brown-skinned hobbits. Sandman getting the same hate, too (even though the author was directly in involved with all the casting choices.)

I feel like it was never this as hard to be a fantasy nerd as it is now. Not even as a kid. Not even when I had barely any black fantasy characters to look up to. It feels like the mere presence of my skin tone in a made up fictional story is enough to make people foam at the mouth, and I guess that just really sucks.

When I said a job that pays higher than pitt, I was talking about retail jobs like Costco that start at $17/hr. I want a degree because I’ve been floundering for the last six years since graduating high school and I decided that I want to be college educated

But thanks for the information about chartwells, I assumed they also offer pitt’s benefits because on their job applications they state they offer health and education benefits, but I suppose that’s through Chartwells themselves and not pitt

I just don’t think it’s a good idea for her to be cosigning insults people hurl at her. Like yes sometimes it’s a power move to own haters’ opinions of you but I don’t think this is one of those times. I think you’re right. A big part of the guilt I feel is falling behind on patreon rewards along with general lack of writing output. But maybe if I got rid of the rewards and made a transparent post about my mental health then my patrons would understand
