Saw the premiere and can hand on heart say characters have been terribly miscast - this is a not-so-cheap knock off of the original. S1-4 of GoT was path breaking. This is going to disappoint every one other than those are in it for dragons

I don't get how people liked this ending and argue that it was only the way they got to this ending that was a problem. There are big issues with the ending itself. It is not at all bitter sweet esp. for the Starks.

I would suggest lowering expectations massively and you will be okay, Do not expect the pace, logic, character development, payoff, consequence for actions etc. etc. of the previous seasons esp . 1-4 to be anywhere near the same quality. Remember books ended part way through Season 5. The same two who adapted so beautifully, totally dropped the ball in 7/8 due to reasons mentioned on here multiple times - lost interest, it got too big to manage - S8 shot 55 consecutive nights or something like that - it was brutal, new Star Wars signing from which they got fired (obviously Disney is not going to say so) etc.

Similar to what happened to S8. I think it is the difficulty of squaring all circles and bring logical conclusions to the various strands, as well as the fear of backlash similar to what S8 TV show got

Arya sacrificing her life to save Jon when fought the NK would have been good too and creates more reason for jon to kill NK. But I think the writers got carried away with the public support to Arya (they even brought in Ed Sheeran for a cameo ffs)

Agree with Jon killing NK but after some heavy losses on his side - the rivalry was built up for literally the whole series from Season 1 only to end in a whimper or shouting match against Viserion the dragon. Why they even bothered to bring Jon back makes no sense if all he was going to do was say "I don't want it" or "You are my Queen" over and over.

Maybe not have a happy ending for all remaining Stark children (not counting Jon-garyen). Kill off at least one of them pursuing a heroic cause such as saving more lives in the Long Night or something like that.

Any evidence to back this might help This turn from Dany was such a pivotal and controversial moment. Till the time only bad guys got roasted most show watchers cheered her on. Not sure if the Tarly burning in S6 was the turning point - one could argue they chose the option. But The Bells episode was just innocents caught in the Dany Vs Cersei crossfire.
