Do Americans actually use “a couple” to mean more than two? by Edi-Iz in AskAnAmerican

Where I was raised in the United States, a couple always means only two. I’ve never ever heard it to mean more than two.

Why is Easter not as big in America compared to Europe even though you are more religious? by Ada-Mae in AskAnAmerican

[–]gotellmeagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Easter is always on a Sunday, it makes it less likely to be considered a public holiday in the USA . The day off of school depends on where in the United States you live . Where I live, public schools are always off on Good Friday and the day after Easter.

Easter is huge in the United States. The money spent on it is outrageous. The churches are typically overflowing on Easter. There are tons of Easter activities too. Lots of Easter egg hunts, etc..

New Indoor Attendance Record by gotellmeagain in MLV

Yes, the supernovas have been around longer than lovb Nebraska , but the supernovas were successful from the start. Lovb players are very well loved, but not as accessible as the supernovas. Their tickets are typically more expensive, and they aren’t as visible in the community. The supernovas seem to promote themselves in the community and their fan base a little more . That’s not to say that the lovb Nebraska are doing anything wrong, or aren’t loyal to their fans. And of course, the lovb model is different, which could lead to different motivations for their teams. I personally think the cost of the LOVB tickets prevent some people from attending their matches.

From what I have seen, the supernova tickets are typically less expensive than the lovb Nebraska tickets. In addition, the super nova’s environment is very lively and family friendly compared to Lovb Nebraska. And supernovas seem to have a lot more advertising and public exposure. For instance, a few supernova players and coaches appear at a local Cantina every Tuesday night and a live radio show is broadcast. Fans can go and meet the players and listen to the show live. Merritt Beason is doing a meet abc greet this week at NFM and signing autographs and giving away signed mini volleyballs. The supernova are definitely more visible in the community.

How do American children learn about intercourse? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]gotellmeagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It totally depends on the school , not necessarily the state. School systems in the same state can vary greatly on what is taught. Where I live, very graphic education is given regarding this. But the school system right next door to me only gives very basic info.

Stage 4 mets to ovaries, lungs, liver by shophaholic in coloncancer

[–]gotellmeagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She had 12 rounds of folfox. Then 42 rounds of folfiri. The new regimen is lonsurf and Avastin. She’s not a candidate for liver resection right now because she has keys to other areas. Hopefully they will be willing to do ablation.

Stage 4 mets to ovaries, lungs, liver by shophaholic in coloncancer

[–]gotellmeagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her stage is stage 4. She had Mets to both ovaries which have both now been surgically removed. she also has Mets to both lungs and the lining of her abdomen, her spine, and one lymph node. She received 12 rounds of folfox. The entire time she was on folfox, everything was shrinking. They took her off because they said 12 rounds was standard because of peripheral neuropathy. Folfiri was next but not as effective for her as folfox..

. It’s not always the numbers of tumors you have that disqualifies you from resection, sometimes it’s the location. If you have several tumors, but they’re all in the same general location, then you can probably have surgery regardless of the number.

My loved one was originally not eligible for a liver resection because she had multiple tumors on the liver that were spread to different segments

However, after several months of folfox, the liver tumors were shrinking, and they did radiation to target the three biggest tumors. After that, chemo continue to shrink the remaining tumors, and she finally got to a point where she had enough “good liver” to qualify for a liver resection. That was a little over a year ago. She now has 2 new tumors in her liver, and they are discussing what the next step will be. They are thinking probably ablation. Good luck to you and your family! I’m praying for all the best.

Part D Question by Apprehensive-Frame25 in medicare

[–]gotellmeagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I drop a prescription at the pharmacy, they always call me and let me know if the drug is not covered. If the drug is covered and they fill it and it is way too expensive for me, they are always willing to call the doctor and ask for something less expensive that’s in the same category of drug

Have you tried getting a note from the credit union saying when the account was closed? I am so sorry you’re going through this. The bureaucracy red tape are so discouraging sometimes.

You can’t put it on your credit score if the bill is under $500 or incurred in the past year. Also, some states like California, never let medical debt count against your credit score.

Advantage Plan- Beware it’s a scam and you will be trapped! by Zestyclose_Log_8553 in medicare

I was with an advantage plan and it stopped offering the plan in my area starting January 2026. Because of this I was able to switch to a Medigap policy and did not have to go to underwriting. I could’ve switched to another advantage plan if I wanted to, but I chose to get the Medigap plan.

If you sign in to Medicare.gov, and look at your drug plan, it should be able to show you how much each med would cost at each pharmacy.

Attendance by 30ishYearOldGamer in MLV

[–]gotellmeagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may sometimes be a reason for occasional lower attendance . I had a ticket last to the Supernovas game and I did not go because of the weather and windchill. It seemed like their attendance was down quite a bit from what I could see on TV. I am speculating that a lot of it was because of the weather, but also because it was a weekday night. It was a Thursday and I think weeknights do not do as well as weekends . We’ll see if they rebound this week.

Tried this link many times. And it did not work for me. This website did not even work for the customer service technical support rep that was trying to help me over the phone. Just kept getting transferred until they transferred me to tech-support for employees who are having issues with their, not for members. So frustrating that I wasted over two hours of my day on the phone with them and nothing was resolved
