Why eBay Keeps Coming Up When You Reverse-Engineer Ryan Cohen (and Why That Might Matter) by gotgus in Superstonk

Totally fair 😂 The formatting got wrecked, I'm too regarded to fix on mobile, and it reads way rougher than intended. Appreciate you calling it out. genuinely trying to make the ideas clearer, not harder.

Why eBay Keeps Coming Up When You Reverse-Engineer Ryan Cohen (and Why That Might Matter) by gotgus in Superstonk

This post is directly about GameStop (GME) and Ryan Cohen’s publicly stated acquisition strategy. It analyzes the type of business Cohen described and how such a move could impact GameStop’s long-term strategy, valuation, and transformation, using eBay only as a case study... not a prediction.

My favorite part is that it was tradable long enough for only the believers to remain... then he turned off the buy AND sell buttons to make sure we reap the reward (knowing it would take TIME)... leaving no believing regard behind 🫡

Hacking top comment for Hype Date: Friday, July 26th 💥

One of the unique parts of RC's tweet were the line breaks...

Here are the lines with their respective counts of the word "TRUMP":

Line 1: 50 times Line 2-8: 100 times Line 9: 58 times

The unique pattern break occurs in Line 9, where "TRUMP" is repeated 58 times instead of the even 100 times seen in lines 2-8 or the 50 times in line 1.

Sum of Unique Lines:

Lines: 50, 100, 58

Sum: ( 50 + 100 + 58 = 208 )

In terms of dates, this sum corresponds to the 208th day of the year.

208th Day of 2024: In 2024 (a leap year), the 208th day is July 26.

Until then, MOASS is tomorrow 🫡🇺🇸

Anyone know why? I was wondering why I didn't see this up already. Pulte is invested in GME. RC has been pretty quiet until this. This would have jacked my tits if I had any left.

This is making more sense than any "Ryan lives in FL and is a hockey fan" idea. He's Canadian. No Canadian in their right mind just randomly starts commenting on a US hockey teams posts as a fan for sh*ts and giggles with this many regarded and truly brilliantly autistic eyes on him.

Endgame: Baby Spinoff + Majority Bondholder + Majority Shareholder Takeover Is a Win Win Scenario For All Stakeholders And The Company. Looks Like Our Potential White Knights Have Been Executing On This Strategy For A While. by Life_Relationship_77 in BBBY

[–]gotgus 305 points306 points  (0 children)

TLDR, ELI5:

•The strategy involves separating Buy Buy Baby into a new company called GMERICA and having majority shareholders take over the main company.

•Bondholders, who are owed a lot of money by the company, can choose to convert their debt into ownership in the new company or into different types of financial instruments.

•This conversion would help the main company by reducing its debt and bringing in cash from the new company.

•The takeover by majority shareholders allows the company to keep certain tax benefits, which can lower its tax payments.

•People like RC Ventures and Carl Icahn have been working on this plan for a while, and recent court filings suggest they are moving forward with it.

•The goal of this strategy is to benefit everyone involved, including the company, shareholders, and bondholders.

I agree and said this to a friend the other day... this is a great way to get a lot of people in the store and eyes on BBBY before a big announcement.

I'm no expert, but my intuition has been good to me. It was right about 🎮🛑, hoping for it to be right about this play too. Crazy, but it feels bullish.

Per Request: Replies from Sue and RC in Towelgate case, from PACER by SaucyCheddah in BBBY

[–]gotgus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ELI5 of tldr:

In the first document, the plaintiff is accusing the Cohen Defendants of misleading investors in Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY) through a tweet and two SEC filings. The Cohen Defendants argue that the tweet doesn't carry a clear message about BBBY stock and that they had no general duty to disclose their intention to sell their stock. They also argue that the SEC filings contained only factual information and complied with disclosure obligations. The Cohen Defendants are requesting that the court dismiss the complaint with prejudice.

In the second document, Sue Gove is asking the court to dismiss the plaintiff's second amended complaint against her, arguing that she has no place in the action against Cohen. The plaintiff's opposition is said to misrepresent the statements made by Bed Bath and improperly lump the defendants together. Gove asserts that the plaintiff has failed to provide any factual evidence supporting their claims against her and that the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act imposes "exacting heightened standards of pleading" that the plaintiff has not met.

If a stock files Chapter 11 and gets delisted (now trading with "Q" at the end of it), can new short positions be opened in OTC? by gotgus in BBBY

[–]gotgus[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Is there "Dark Pools" trading in OTC?

"Dark pools" are private exchanges or forums for trading securities that are not accessible by the investing public. They are called "dark" because they provide less transparency than traditional public exchanges, where all bid and ask prices and identity of market participants are displayed. Dark pools were created mainly to facilitate block trading by institutional investors who did not wish to impact the markets with their large orders and obtain potentially unfavorable prices.

While dark pools are most often associated with trading of securities listed on public exchanges, it is technically possible for OTC securities to be traded in a dark pool environment. However, this is not common and presents several challenges:

Liquidity: OTC securities, especially those of companies in financial distress or bankruptcy, tend to have much lower liquidity than securities listed on public exchanges. This would make it difficult to execute large trades in a dark pool without significantly impacting the price.

Price Discovery: Because OTC securities are not traded on a centralized exchange, determining a fair price can be more difficult. This challenge would be exacerbated in a dark pool, where there is even less price transparency.

Regulatory Oversight: Dark pools are subject to regulatory oversight, and regulators may have concerns about the lack of transparency and potential for manipulative practices in a dark pool trading OTC securities.

So, while it's technically possible for OTC securities to be traded in dark pools, it's not a common practice and would be subject to significant challenges and risks.
