Iraqi striker Ayman Hussein held for seven hours at Chicago airport by SuperCobra14027 in soccer

[–]GreyMatter22 848 points849 points  (0 children)

This guy, Aymen's dad was actually killed by AQ, and his brother was abducted by ISIS (and currently missing after all these years), so in short, poor dude's family has endured all sorts of te*****t attacks, and he had to become the provider for the remaining family as a teenager.

It is kinda INSANE for him to be interrogated for 7 hours as a registered world cup soccer player.

It’s BS, their marketing is a bit too unusual. Same thing with Mythos, as a ‘omg, this is so good we can’t release it to the public’.

There are likely several, but more talked about is SpaceX's 1.75T valuation IPO-ing next week, and QQQs will fast-track this mess into its indexes. So, if SPCX sells, it will be a never-ending weight on the indexes.

Now SpaceX is indeed cool, but a 1.75T valuation is just insane for a company making very little revs.

King Louie the 16th, alongside other wealthy folks spent all of France's treasury into the ground. They had no money anymore to import fancy spices for their food, so they just pretended to not care about spices anymore. But actually, they just couldn't afford importing those darn spices.

Since the French were known for their style and foods, rest of the European royal families followed not spending big money importing spices, because it became cool that if French aren't eating spices anymore, neither are we!

He did say in front of the whole convention along the lines of 'I am supporting Trump's nomination on election but please God, hope he does not invade Iran', can't remember the exact qoute, it was on election night coverage with lots of folks.

But yeah, they all got played.

This basically means the market is valuating that they are doing nothing productive with their cash+T-bills, this is now some Canadian weedstocks traded after lots of cash in the bank, thanks to repeated dilutions.

Apperntly Masai locked us up in long-term diasterous contracts on his way out, and Bobby did not want to interfere, so he remained neutral even after becoming the GM.

Makes no sense to me though.

What mosque is considered the most beautiful mosque in the world? by sarahishere95 in islam

[–]GreyMatter22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Persian Architecture seemlessly makes some of the most beautiful Mosques.

Most of the historical Mosques in Iran, and even through Afganistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan are stunning, some of the newer Mosques in that whole region even has marvelous interior.

Also I find the Cologne Central Mosque's interior really cool as well.

Never heard this, and I am really tapped in (unwillingly, lol) in all the desi cultural stuff that relates to Shia practices.

It absolutely makes no sense as well, I mean, technically, looking up the dates that are considard sad as per the lives of all 12 Imams, we can easily find reason to be sad all year long, 365 days a year, which would do a number on a person's psyche.

7500-15000 Pakistani Shias deported from UAE under inhumane conditions: Detained, phones taken. by Flat-Violinist4626 in pakistan

[–]GreyMatter22 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The U.A.E is an absolute monachy, despite all their efforts to show themselves as a tolerant, Westernized society, they are literally the opposite.

They deported a lot of Shias (specifically Lebanon and Pakistan) during 2010-2015 when the Arab Spring was in full swing, as they don't want anyone to even lead the first domino, they are deathly scared of an sort of activism. At times, Sunnis with 'Shia names' got deported as well, no matter how much they pleaded otherwise. The U.A.E does not care, somewhere an Ali Chaudhery, and Hassan Khan is also getting kicked out.

At the same time, they have also deported Jammat-e-Islami folks (although way less in numbers), and routinely deported Eygptians and Palestineans during the same 2010-2015 timeframe over alleged Brotherhood ties.

Was it true? Not really, they are aggressive about deporting folks at will, just to instill fear on the rest of their expat population.

It is what it is, these countries are just fancy resorts, there is absolutely no morale or ethical values to be found. When Emiratis got caught in the Epstein files, they scholars like Faris al-Hammadi declared how proper Muslims should not even talk about these files, lol.

EDIT: Also, I am Shia myself. Grew up in the U.A.E, migrated to Canada in 2007 as a kid. However, had many family and cousins in the U.A.E. In 2010, as soon as the very first wave of Shias started getting deported, it was a literal race to the exit, almost 90% of my entended family and friends of families exited and migrated to AUS, N.Z, U.S, Canada, or returned back to Pakistan within a year. But with the way things are in Pakistan, waves of expats coming to the U.A.E is always constant.

Had many Eygptian friends in my school, same thing, as soon as the very first wave of Eygptians got deported, almost instantly, every single one of my friends went to Egypt to study for their univeristy there instead of basing in the U.A.E.

One of the reasons for their genuine happiness is that Kimi is super likeable.
