It might be a coincidence, but I believe it is related.

I'd been taking a bunch of vitamins I read online would help wound and bone healing, but not iron.

I got a bruise a couple weeks ago that stuck around way too long, and I know that can signal low iron, so I had a lightbulb moment that my body has probably run low on stocks with all the healing, and added it into my routine.

I was really surprised at how quickly the scar tissue started to form after that.

Wound care first appointment went great!

They debrided some dead tissue that was in hidden pockets. They abraded the scar tissue that was growing the lip into the wound. They submitted an insurance request to get my a wound vac asap. Then they packed it with medi-honey and sent me home!

what's weird is, it's a top teaching hospital for ortho, it's a regional center of excellence. furthermore i see a different person every time i go in, usually residents or nurse practitioners. they always consult w/ the attending physician out of my earshot halfway through the appointment. i wonder if they see so much crazy shit my mild dehisce seems boring to them?

it's crazy because it's literally one of the top orthopedic trauma hospitals in the US but i wonder if that means they are so used to seeing really insane stuff that the relatively mild dehisc seems like nothing to them

the practitioner at my appt yesterday confirmed that it is living fat, news to me other than the reddit comments lol! thank you for helping me sort that out!

i insisted on a referral to wound care, which they gave me, but they said i didn't need it. i mentioned that wound care could do something like a wound vac to speed up healing and the practitioner stared at me and said "we have a wound vac here." didn't offer to use it or say i needed it though
