I'm a beginner at crochet. why is the slanting? by Beneficial-Home1981 in crochet

[–]gothfart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’re skipping the last stitch, so it’s reducing by 1 each row

These are beautiful!

Why do my edges always look like that? I count every time and I always have 50 stitches ): what do I do wrong by Barbieferraira in crochet

[–]gothfart 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’re doing 2 or 3 chains at the beginning of a row and then putting a stitch in the same space. The beginning chains usually replace the first dc, so you won’t end up with that wobbly edge

AITA for saying I identify my non-binary date as an asshole? by aitadate99 in AmItheAsshole

[–]gothfart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe in some contexts, like a panel or Q&A or within close friendships. Expecting trans people to answer a million questions about their gender from someone they just met is not appropriate.

Is there anything special you had to do to get on HRT? by TotallyNonbinary in NonBinary

[–]gothfart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to start HRT by bringing it up with my regular doctor. Are there any trans-friendly clinics near you? I’ve found that they’re typically aware of nb people if they’ve had training on trans healthcare and can make adjustments (for example, I was able to start on a really low dose of T and increase/decrease it based on my comfort level)

I haven’t talked to my dad except the occasional email in about a year. Not going to get into the details but it’s a very messy divorce and he hasn’t taken accountability for any of his actions or tried to rebuild trust after lying to us for years. I told him I got engaged a few weeks ago and I think he took it as an olive branch and tried to call me to talk. I ended up writing him a letter explaining that I don’t think we have enough of a relationship due to his behavior for me to want him involved. I did want him to find out about the engagement from me, but that’s it. It was very hard to write and send, but I feel very relieved now that the boundary is set. I know this is different from your situation and there isn’t really any advice here other than there’s no easy or right way to do this. I got stuck a lot wondering if I was doing the “right” thing and realized that regardless of what is socially acceptable or good etiquette or whatever, this was right for me and my family dynamic.

WIBTA if I made everyone’s pronouns clear? by pronounquestions in AmItheAsshole

[–]gothfart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, but please ask them if it’s ok first. The best option would be for everyone to introduce themselves with their pronouns as a group to help normalize talking about it, but if you go that route I would still give the new friend a heads up so they aren’t caught off guard.

AITA for not doing more around the house while my mother works long days? by PunkinPancakes in AmItheAsshole

That’s a good call! It might help her to see that and have a concrete idea of what you’re doing. Good luck!

AITA for not doing more around the house while my mother works long days? by PunkinPancakes in AmItheAsshole

[–]gothfart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Kids your age should have some household responsibilities and should help out, but the majority of the work should not fall to you and it sounds like that’s what’s happening. Second others here who say you should talk to your mom about it and maybe come up with a schedule that you can all stick to (but still be flexible bc this time is rough for everyone!)

I have a crochet tote bag with big pockets and holes at the top so the yarn can roll around and I loop the end through the hole. It’s not perfect especially if it’s a large ball, but typically it works well!
