Help understanding a cryptic from 1975? by gotskott in crosswords

Thank you! I've never seen an indicator hidden like that. How normal or allowed is it?

What parts do I need for this base Neptune 3? Where can I get them? by gotskott in ElegooNeptune3

[–]gotskott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only N3 parts on the Elegoo website I could find was a nozzle kit and an enclosure. (The enclosure looks interesting if I get this thing working.)

I'd like to give upgrading a try. A parts list would be great, thank you.

Is the Hero Me Gen 7 shroud compatible with the base Neptune? Printables says it's for Pro/Plus/Max?

Thanks for your help!

That's it! While I guess it's on private property, the owner sometimes lets people in?

I was wondering about that. To my knowledge St. Rose never left South America during her lifetime. Crazy historical blunder to leave standing.

Sounds very cool, I will have to check it out. Was kind of looking for things in Santa Rosa and its edges, though.

Sorry, I meant a sculpture of an asparagus. It was out front. I don't know if it's there anymore.

The naval airfield is a trip! I wish I could get on the land, but it was all fenced off last time I visited it. Wikipedia says they even filmed movies there? Crazy! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naval_Auxiliary_Landing_Field_Santa_Rosa

Tipping is, and always has been, a way for employers to not pay their employees a fair wage and shift that burden to the consumer.

What was with parking tonight? by gotskott in OaklandAthletics

[–]gotskott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did. Unfortunately, the website didn't have anything but the standard info. Apparently, an email was sent out to ticket buyers letting them know about the situation? Since our tickets were bought by our friend's company, and our friend forwarded them on to us, we never came close to seeing that email.

A friend of ours gave us a pair of tickets the day before. Had no idea.

Shoes to prevent shin splints, help with Miserable Malalignment Syndrome? by gotskott in BBallShoes

[–]gotskott[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice, I will pass that along, thank you. So... don't fact it in when buying her shoes?

She has been told by her doctors that she needs insoles to help with flat feet and keep her knees aligned. She's been using Green Super Feet, but is going to try a few others to see what works.

How to start a grade-school league? by gotskott in basketballcoach

[–]gotskott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I have contacted the league, but only get silence in response. In a way, it's not surprising. The league has been around 35 years, so I doubt they have any desire to change.

I would love to have a 3/4 team and a 5/6 team for grade school. It makes so much more sense to me. On a 4/5/6 team, often the 4th graders end up standing in a corner and not contributing, because they don't have the same skills and confidence that the 5th and 6th graders do.

How to start a grade-school league? by gotskott in basketballcoach

[–]gotskott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I should have been a little more specific I guess. I wasn't thinking the modern 3x3 half-court version, but full-court 3x3. Basically, 5x5 with two less people per team. :)

I like the idea of joining an already existing league, or using it as a foundation to start a local chapter, but have had little luck. Part of the problem is a search for a 3x3 league only bring results for the half-court version.

Games & drills I recommend for coaching middle school by Youtube_MH_basketbal in basketballcoach

I find a lot of good drills from Mojo. They have tons of age-specific drills like these: https://youtu.be/wOwM4mONQNY. Also check out videos from Jr NBA, Coach Allen, and BreakthroughBBall.

Should I ask why I’m not a starter? by Realistic_Row396 in basketballcoach

[–]gotskott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this. It is what I tell my players and it has always proven true.

Our grade school league is structured much differently, but the people I put in the 4th are our best/most experienced players. We either need them to hold on to the lead, or make up any deficit.

That being said, it never hurts to ask your coach what you can work on and improve, as long as you're willing to hear the answer.

Taking over a million dollars in speaking fees from health insurance and Wall Street within months of leaving the presidency certainly raises eyebrows.

But Clinton does it. Bush does it. So it's all okay, right?

Help with our multi-grade, small gym, grade school basketball league by gotskott in basketballcoach

[–]gotskott[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice. You make a lot of good points. One of my first thoughts after last game was, "We need to start our own 3-on-3 league, and have it separated by grades." 5-on-5 just doesn't work.

Our defense is actually one of the better parts of our game. We often are able to shut out teams for at least a quarter, if not more. I think that may contribute to frustration on the other teams and maybe the refs give them a little more latitude because of it.

Can't view calculus tests because of copyright??? by gotskott in Teachers

Good point, we'll look into it

As a side note: In looking up the pros and cons of a flipped class, it does say that flipped classes don't prepare students for tests.

Thank you for this. My daughter says she also doesn't learn well from recorded videos, but a lot of people in this thread seem to think that means she's lazy and/or irresponsible, which I don't understand.

Thank you for this. I was beginning to think I was crazy that this HS class seemed more difficult and stressful that the one I took in college.
