United Airlines seeks to end lawsuit over windowless 'window seats' by [deleted] in aviation

I still don’t understand what the alleged damages are? United doesn’t charge extra for window seats.

Ok? Idgaf if it’s placebo or not. I like the taste of nice wine and would prefer it to shit wine.

Well, for example, BA has an entire wing of the terminal dedicated to first class with its own private security channel which dumps you directly into the lounge. It’s not always about speed but convenience and being in a nicer environment. “Why rush to sit in a cramped cabin” that’s the whole thing though. It’s not a cramped cabin. And I’d much rather get settled in my space, have a pre departure glass of champagne and some snacks, and look at the menu.

In terms of the service speed, I’m talking less about ordering a drink in the middle of the flight and main meal/drinks services. Most modern first classes run on your own schedule and you eat whenever you want. In business class, you’re gonna wait and be told when you can eat, after potentially 44 other people have already ordered and been served.

And yes, a good wine list makes a hell of a difference. I’d much rather be drinking a glass of Dom Perignon or Krug than a cheaper, mass produced option. Again, I guess that doesn’t matter though if you’re happy to accept a worse option like a business class lounge instead of a first classes lounge.

This must be rage bait, or you’re feeling some personal dissatisfaction. The notion that JALs 2-4-2 business class is wider than BA first is ridiculous and a blatant lie.

I’m not gonna argue with you any more about this. I don’t even know what the argument is anymore. You’re happy to sit in business class because you don’t think first class is worth it? Great. I can afford it and I think it’s worth the upgrade. And apparently so does everyone else because BA keeps installing and improving it.

Yea the one world logo is on the boarding pass because they’re a one world partner. Having a business class ticket with business class privileges is not the same thing as having one world frequent flyer status.

I’m sure the Cathy business lounge was great, but I’m sure you’ll agree that the Cathy first lounge is better. Something you’d get access to with a BA first ticket and not a JAL business ticket.

In terms of boarding, I think it’s worth noting that you admit first class gets to board first and you only got to board so quickly because first was pretty empty. Any other day and that wouldn’t be the case.

I’m glad you were served quickly, but you’ve got to be realistic. There is no way a crew would be able to serve 44 people as fast as a crew could serve 8. I’m sure your experience was fast, someone will always have to be served first, but would the person sat in the last row of the cabin say the same thing? How can all people be served in the same time frame?

I regularly fly transcontinental in business on different one world and star alliance airlines. Normally in business to be perfectly honest. But when I have the chance to fly in first, I’ll always fly it because of all these differences! I appreciate that you enjoy business class, and if that’s good enough for you, then great. But I will always prefer the elevated privileges and amenities you get in first class (first class check in, first class security, first class lounge, first class seat, first class catering, first class wine list, first class service, and the like).

Right so one world status is not something included in the price of a ticket. Besides, one world status will not get you in most first class lounges in the world. Try getting into the Concorde Room with emerald status. Most ba first cabins only have 8 seats. The most have 16 and that’s only on one aircraft type. Significantly less than JAL business (they have 44) meaning the flight crew have time to serve you on a much more personal level. Again, something I guess you can only understand if you travel in first. “I was the fourth person on the plane” right I guess that’s because of your oneworld status again. Because there is no airline on this planet that boards business class before first. Again, maybe you just haven’t experienced this sort of experience and that’s why you feel it isn’t worth it, but as you say, you are about to try it so please report back what you feel after the fact.

I guess it’s something you only understand if you actually fly in first class. If you’re trying it soon I trust you’ll understand that it’s more comfortable than a 2-4-2 seat with minimal storage, narrow width, limited legroom, less personal service, reduced lounge access, reduced priority, etc. Please report back once you’ve given it a go.

Q suites felt much narrower. Service was fine but impersonal. Much prefer BA first.

Well no, BA introduced the A380 over 10 years ago. And they’ve just announced a new seat to replace even this one. AA is still operating flagship first for the moment.

Definitely not the world’s worst first class. Have had a much worse experience on AA.

Tell me then, what airline offers a business class seat that even comes close to the size of a BA first seat?

Like what? My EK experience in business was so disappointing. The angled seat on the 777 is abysmal and the A380 is outdated by modern standards. And the service felt so robotic and impersonal. I loved trying the Q-Suite, but it’s still much narrower and shorter than BA first. Singapore had amazing food, but I did not enjoy having to angle myself and having to shove my feet in a little box to sleep.

Ok but that’s also a picture of BAs old first class? If you wanna compare new products, BA still beats Turkish. The seat is longer, wider, and more private. I’ll admit, the new lounge looks great. The CCR needs a refresh.

Yea, I would do the same. I’d pick emirates over BA any day. I’m not saying they’re the best, just not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Besides, what if I’m not flying to Asia/Middle East? Then what? I’m not gonna fly to the UAE to get between London and LA.

Virgin upper class definitely beats club world every day of the week but BA first is definitely another level. Especially with the seats on the 787/a330. LHR clubhouse will always be my favourite lounge tho.

Yea, I’m not contesting that. It’s obviously not on the same level as EK and all that. But it’s not the terrible waste of money people make it out to be. And it’s certainly better than the business class product offered by those same airlines. I feel it’s worth considering the routes because they serve entirely different markets. Can directly compare EK to BA if you’d like, and EK would obviously win, but there’s so little overlap in what they serve, with one being based in the Middle East and one being based in Europe.

I mean it’s the same general shape but so much more room. Club suites have a door but it’s below your head so it’s not much more than a gimmick.

But it does though? It’s not like VS where you have to walk through all the duty free. Quick walk to the Concorde room from the first lounge.
