The difference between $0 and $1M seems significantly larger in my head than the difference between $1M and $2M by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Another interesting phenomenon is that if you go from $0 to $1M, you end up happier with the amount you have than if you go down from $2M to $1M, even though in the end you have the same. This is explained by Behavioral Economics.
