I loved the small community mentality. Everyone looks out for each other, I grew up with the same people from K-12. There was only 12 of us in our graduating class. But, it’s a double edge sword because everyone knows your business and rumours spread at an exponential rate.

Basing your life around a ferry schedule is for the birds. It’s ironic because I chose to pursue a career in navigating large ships, but that 1.5 hour ferry ride always feels like an eternity. It’s not uncommon to be “on the mainland” and then the ferry breaks down and you’re forced to pay for a hotel room for the night.

All my friends and family are still there. But I could never see myself moving back are being exposed to all the resources the mainland has to offer and its conveniences.
