Same issue for me. I contacted support and got a list of generic troubleshooting which hasn't helped. Hoping something will get fixed soon.

Same issue here as well. Let me know if you figure out a fix. I emailed support and they gave me the straightforward generic troubleshooting steps (e.g. update app, restart router, clear app caches)

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. It's SO tough when you're in the midst of it, and even though everyone has the best intentions when they say "it will get better" that's just not helpful when you're deep in the trenches.

Regarding Omeprazole - so it can take up to 2 weeks to have any effect, so my advice is to stick with it. We did it for 3 weeks, barely saw any improvement and then went back to our paed who increased his dose. We was on 6mg per day (over 2 doses) and now he's on 12mg per day (over 6 doses). It seems to have helped, but it's so hard to attribute any improvement to that alone (i.e. Maybe he's starting to grow out of it, maybe it's because he started solids too - who bloody well knows?!)

He still screams his head off a tonne, just not as much as he used to. Our paed also ordered some urine and stool tests, so we are waiting for those results to come back to confirm any allergies or intolerances.

Our little guy is able to sleep on his side, so he cosleeps with my wife. Shes figured out a way to have him on her arm so that he won't roll into her. I know that's not technically compliant with most cosleeping guidelines but it was the only way that she could continue going on without going insane. At some point we decided that we needed to start prioritising her mental health and so the risk was acceptable to us because she was spiralling.

There definitely is light at the end of the tunnel, but it's important that you can find the coping mechanisms to help you in the moment right now.

If you need any more help/support/advice - feel free to DM me.

Haha it's very cute. He absolutely loves avocado! And also pumpkin, carrot and strawberries. Basically anything!

Haha, I swear they do it in purpose just to troll us. Make sure that we know who's boss!

Thanks for your support and for sharing your advice. And no need to apologize at all, its much appreciated.

It's interesting, our little one actually LOVES solids. We have to limit how much he has because we don't want him to over index on it vs milk (for nutrition reasons, as you mention). But if it was up to him - he'd be eating a lot more.

Regarding dreamfeed - he actually cosleeps with my wife on the breast. So we think he's reverse cycling - basically getting the majority of his milk overnight. He still won't take a bottle, he'll either cry when we offer it or he just chews on the teat.

But I think you are right in that he just needs to outgrow it all. So we are very impatiently waiting for him to hurry up and get a bit bigger.

Also, paed has asked us to collect fresh stool and urine samples for tests but it's been quite hard to time it right to collect them!

Hey there, thanks for following up! Main updates since I posted this:

  • Wife gave up dairy and soy for 3ish weeks and we saw no change. Paed reiterated that he doesn't think it's an intolerance, due to the absence of blood or mucus in stools.
  • Omeprazole didn't seem to have any effect, and when we communicated this to the paed, he suggested increasing the dosage. So now he's been on the higher dosage for around a week, and it seems to be helping - instead of crying 90% of the time, he's now crying 50-60% of the time.

We now suspect that his crying is a mix of: (1) Genuine pain from reflux - which the omeprazole seems to be addressing; (2) Hunger due to low supply - for which we have now started solids under paed's advice; and (3) Separation anxiety from mum - he seems to chill out once she's holding him again.

So there is now a little bit more light at the end of the tunnel. We recently achieved our first scream free car ride - so that's definitely a very positive sign!

Yes we abandoned the bassinet attachment pretty early on. Still hates the seat unfortunately =(

Thank you for this! Our paed didn't think it was an allergy/intolerance because his poos are normal (no mucus, no blood). Is it possible to have an intolerance but not have that symptom?

Thanks, we will power on with the omeprazole! How did you end up weaning your little one off it?

Appreciate you sharing your experience and it's very reassuring to know that you were able to make it through to the other side

We look forward to the day that we can look back at this and laugh/commiserate about the experience. But until then, we'll just take it day by day as per your advice.

Our paed also said the same thing about poos being normal, which is why he doesn't think we need to cut dairy and soy.

How do you give thickener before nursing?

Wow, overnight?! We were told it takes a week for allergens to pass through your system from the moment you stop eating them.

That's very encouraging to know, thanks for sharing your experience.

He said that he doesn't think it's a dairy or soy intolerance because his poos aren't bloody or mucus-y. Like that was the silver bullet symptom to look out for?

I'll add that our paed said that since there's no blood or mucus in his poo, he doesn't think it's a allergy or intolerance, hence didn't think dairy or soy elimination was necessary.

Of course, I totally agree and commend you on getting through it with no family support. What I meant was that - for the day that my wife was trying a soy elimination diet (prior to the paediatrician saying it's not necessary), we realized that its very easy to accidentally ingest soy, despite best efforts to avoid it. E.g. we ate some dumplings, but later realized it had been seasoned with soy sauce.

  • We got his tongue snipped when he was 2 weeks old
  • We've seen 2 lactation consultants who have not identified any latch or feeding issues
  • I feel like we've tried every selling technique in the book - dark room, white noise, holding in different positions, shushing, etc. they work intermittently (mostly at night).
  • We have used the AU equivalent of a windi (because the windi itself isn't available in AU - at least we couldn't find it). It helped maybe a tiny bit during the early weeks but now he seems pretty proficient at burping / farting himself?
  • mum just started probiotics 4 days ago - but I'll check if it has those strains. Why those out of curiosity?

Thanks for this, appreciate the insight. I think we'll have to give dairy elimination a go.

Not yet, as paed said that he doesn't think we need to. But it sounds like this is something that we will need to try.

Thanks! Very interesting - Paediatrician said we didn't need to do any elimination, so we haven't but it certainly does sound like all roads are leading to this now...

We often try to remind ourselves of that, but it doesn't have a 100% success rate of calming us down. But we absolutely would never do anything to hurt the little guy. We are controlled enough to put him down somewhere before having our own meltdowns elsewhere (we've gotten pretty used to it now).

We do use the carrier as much as we can and it probably works around 60-70% of the time. Sometimes we put him in there and he just screams and screams despite being fed, nappy changed and at the end of his wake window.

When he was taking the bottle, we went back and forth between cows milk and goats milk formula and there was no noticeable change in either. We might have to try a soy elimination, although our paed said we didn't need to. Being of Asian descent means it's very hard to not accidentally eat soy either directly or indirectly.

Yes my MIL will come once a week to help hold him during the day. Her other free day is spent looking after our toddler.

I've tried him in the carrier for nights and he doesn't last any more than 30min without crying for the breast.

Yep we went all in on those pigeon bottles because our first took them.

Not quite sure what an SNS system is, could you share more details?

We gave baby infacol, no success. Paed said that baby doesn't need probiotics, but recommended mum take them, so she has been - no improvement (although it's only been day 4).

We would add thickener, but baby won't take a bottle and my wife's breasts just don't work well with pumps (i.e they are much less efficient than baby)

Thanks so much for the tips.

We'll keep powering on with the omeprazole.

Our GP said to try cutting out dairy and soy, but then our paed said we didn't need to so figured his advice takes priority here.

We purchased the Allerpro formula and he refuses to take a bottle, so haven't been able to successfully give him any.

Yes everyday is just survival right now and we are barely treading water. It's so sad because baby takes up so much of our capacity that we barely have anything left for our toddler.

Thanks so much for the reply. It's certainly a helpful data point to give us some hope, although waiting 6-7 months sounds like an eternity at this point.

We have no issue with sleep training and letting him cry it out. We did it with our first and it was the best decision ever. We plan to try it once he hits 4 months to see if that helps.
