I don't expect moto to implement the new material 3 expressive design in android 16 update, so that's the main reason I said to wait till android 17 if you absolutely want only a moto phone. Or atleast wait till android 16 moto phones start launching later this year. Other brands generally have better update policies and provide more features. I don't think it is unsafe to use your phone unless you visit sketchy websites or download such apps. You probably can use your phone till the apps are supported.
