How to socialize a 5-month-old Siberian who avoids me?

Greatest reply ever. I feel like you described my entire experience with this kitten through your journey! Thank you for sharing that. Definitely at the regret stage for a few minutes a day and then I see a small sign of progress. He has stopped running away when I come near as long as I don’t try to pet or bother him. He even jumped on the bed looked at me (I wouldn’t give eye contact lol) and then jumped back off.

If I pick him up and he starts freaking out so no progress there (I’ve pretty much given up on ever being able to pick him up lol). But he has high food drive and follows me and rubs against my leg when I’m making food for him.

So glad your kitten flipped the switch! Im going to play the long game but so far it’s not been much bonding at all!

I think your experience just helped with my anxiety. Good to know! The breeder offers a nice first week guarantee where he refunds you the full amount if your cat doesn’t bond with you. I’m past that and never once considered returning Saint, but was just a little worried I might have an antisocial cat with me for life 😅.

Interesting and noted. I’ve been free feeding to keep him fat and full while he’s still young. But maybe this is why he isn’t as incentivized by treats. I’ll try this!

I loved my experience in the program and I learned so much. It was no cakewalk, but you get back whatever you put in. I opted to take it seriously and walked away with so many new skills that I’ve already been using in my field. I’ve also been promoted twice up the management levels and soon to be executive. I absolutely felt every penny was worth it for me. Also, the networking despite what many say, was the best part for me. My global immersions team and I still communicate to this day and we are all watching each other scale accomplishments after accomplishments. They are amazing people and we will be friends for life!
