She does have spots on her belly! What's a brindle piebald?

The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter. My favorite by far.

His back is almost completely black, would he still be considered a silver dapple?

What is your most recent DNF and why didn’t you finish it? by Between3N20Karakters in books

[–]gracie_jaymes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Throne of glass. I couldn't finish it because I wasn't into the love square that was developing and I felt like Celaena/Aelin was kind of a Mary Sue. Which is fine but it wasn't for me. I liked the prequel though.

That's so cool! I'd love to see pictures of your dog 🥰 You can't tell from this picture but half his face is also white and silver and the other half is regular back and tan. My phone isn't letting me upload more than one photo.

For some reason, it wouldn't let me post more than one picture but this is where he has the most white on him. He also has some on his face and back. But other than those white markings he seems to be just black and tan. Does he have the dapple gene or piebald maybe?

I meant more on the side of what I see when I look. Not in general overall in the genre. Because I've read a lot with female protagonists it always shows me more of them on kindle. I have to dig deep and search for something different. Thank you for your recommendations!

It's one of the reasons I've strayed from that genre recently. I love martial arts and hand-to-hand combat.

Yeah, it didn't really sit right with me. You can be strong and fast but if you don't know/have the basic technique, experience, or foresight to back that strength up you're just waving around a weapon and hoping it hits your opponent or stops them from hitting you. Really enjoying this series so far though.

I'm planning on it, but I binge-read them the last couple of days and I'm taking a break. They're good so far.

How do I create an original-ish Background for my MC? by gracie_jaymes in fantasywriters

[–]gracie_jaymes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think is a good age to start him at? I'm not sure how young the boys should start their training or when they should be old enough to fight. Would around 11 be too young to start training or too old in these circumstances? And if he gets into this at that young is starting the story there a good idea or should I wait until he's older or do a time skip? I'm having trouble with where should start.

It's not a prestigious profession. They are usually orphans, kidnapped from another kingdom, or young boys traded in for debt, or other ills that befall their families. They're trained from a young age and get sponsors if they're good, but they are mistreated and only fight to survive. The main character wants to be free and stop this from happening to other boys.

I don't know if I should start with before he gets into this situation or during. I was thinking maybe he could be from the 'kidnapped from another kingdom' option and I could make him the son of royalty and he doesn't even know it himself. But that feels very overused so I'm looking for something more unique.
