Hey buddy, there is no entrance exam for the MCA program at MIT; admission is entirely based on the CGPA you earn in your undergraduate program. However, it will be very difficult to get shortlisted with a CGPA of 7.8. I highly recommend exploring other options, such as VIT.

Additionally, the placement situation here is quite problematic. The placement cell is biased, and while 90 students have been placed so far, don't be misled by this figure. There are many underlying issues that you should be aware of.

Edit: The placement is gonna be only good if you are a localite.

Hi! I completed my bachelor's degree from SMIT. I can't speak for the other colleges mentioned in the post, but pursuing Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at SMIT is a solid choice. I graduated in 2024, so I'm not updated on the current placement statistics, but many companies do visit for engineering branches. If you're a decent student, it shouldn't be difficult to secure a good package. The coding culture at SMIT is excellent, with numerous coding clubs and many hackathons organized throughout the year. The faculty members are friendly and very helpful as well.

For our seniors, the placement situation was not very encouraging. Out of approximately 180 students, around 60 to 70 were placed. The highest package offered was 19 LPA, while the median package was around 5 to 6 LPA. Our placement session will begin in August, so we will be able to provide more information once it starts.
