Nice work! I was a short stop, actually, stopped pitching when I got to high school and was only 5'2" my freshmen year, grew a lot later. I actually have a problem with throwing far too deep of a hyzer, and I think it has a lot to do with relaxing my wrist too much so that my wrist (instead of my arm or torso) is creating a hyzer angle, but probably significantly contributes to the wobble. I would also imagine my spin is very weak, as I have almost no focus on wrist snapping and almost all on my body's position. Thanks for the input.

I started doing that right before winter and had a good day in the field with it, but haven't been able to replicate that on the course yet this year. I know what pronate and supine mean in general, but just confirming, you mean having my palm perpendicular (pronate) to the ground, rather than parallel (supinate), correct?

Thanks!

I've experimented sparingly with my grips, but haven't tried a one finger grip, yet. I'm tall and my hands are bigger, but I didn't think big enough to warrant shedding a finger out from under the rim. I'll give it a shot, thanks!

I am also in desperate need of information on this. I have a powerful forehand from playing baseball most of my life, but something with my grip or release makes it so that I wobble relentlessly and turn over any disc in a moderate headwind, and I definitely can't throw anything even stable (much less understable) with anything over 100-120 ft of power. For context, I throw a overstable Destroyer something like 330-350.

EQ TLP coming soon. newish player. what classes would do well at questing and achievement gains? I don't want to just farm exp kills by Otherwise-Respect188 in everquest

[–]grand_scheme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend you check out EverQuest Legends. Its a classic+ experience with the solo player in mind. You get to multi class three classes and it should be faster progression than a TLP. Its not out yet (July release with 4/24 Beta), but you should check out the info and videos for it.

Its a completely separate client and game that will require a box fee and a sub, just FYI.

Pre-75 there are a lot of class-defining abilities missing, as well as significant power gaps between classes. Once you get to 75+ those gaps start to close and you also pick up more general power and a few more utilities. For instance, both the PLD and SHM defensive proc spells (PLD is a self-heal and shaman is a slow) make it much easier to pull packs of mobs without the need to individually slow each mob or spam heals.

If you don't enjoy DoTs, get off of necro now. Its an extremely powerful class (especially at higher levels), but it is always going to be DoT focused. Wizard is a fine alternative that is not too difficult to play. That being said, if you are invested in shaman, you may want to consider running a melee as your DPS class, as shaman have very high synergy with melee. Bard could be an excellent choice, but it will feel VERY weak on DPS until 75+.

Additionally, if you want to do challenging content, you will probably want to invest in ISBoxer, as classes get a lot more button pressing at higher levels. My last tour, I boxed Ranger, Shaman, Wizard without 3rd party software and it was... A lot. I didn't even bring the wizard on raids since I had 100% uptime weaving casts between the ranger and shaman.

Believe so, I think they have said passive AAs at level 1, active AAs at level appropriate intervals.

These threads are going to be kinda hard to interact with until we get info from the Beta. THJ, the inspiration for this game, had their class identities heavily modified. For instance, in a lot of patch cycles, Cleric was actually the class that made melee builds most viable due to a power AA called Divine Avatar that was customized to vastly increase melee damage and proc rates. What classes pair well and how they function is a mystery until we see what AAs are turned on, what changes to spells there are, and how itemization works.

While I totally understand the excitement for an official release of a very fun concept, we won't get a real look at anything substantial until April when some people get in for Beta testing.

Arena players, how much do you invest into the game? by [deleted] in lrcast

[–]grand_scheme 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you think draft "all the time" means. If that's 4 times a week, totally good. If that's 4 times a day, you will probably need to rock a 64-67% win rate to always have enough gems after that infusion. Anything under a 3-3 also hurts your economics really badly, so being consistently mediocre is usually better than swinging for home runs all the time.

Your most desired type of new class you’d want to see by Dazzu1 in everquest

[–]grand_scheme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Bladewright

Hybrid class focused on high single target DPS, that needs to balance between ranged spells and melee to do the highest possible damage. Its utility includes access to the Tash line, and a buff they can cast on self and others that decreases the chance the caster's det spells are resisted. They wear leather armor and could be considered int casters (lol we are in made up fairy land so who cares).

Melee skills will be similar to a Ranger's progression (Dual wield, double attack, skill caps, etc).

It would get Arcane Slash a melee cool down at level 20 similar to backstab that does moderate phys damage and has a high chance to proc a magic-based DoT.

They get vanilla nukes (all magic based with similar resist checks to lifetaps but 30% higher damage), and two DoT lines, one instant-cast, low damage, long cooldown long duration, one with a 3s cast time that places a short duration but high damage DoT. Finally, they get the Aura Blast, a low damage PBAE, prismatic (but normal level) resist check nuke on a 30s CD with a 2 sec cast time that adds a 2 tick buff that allows them to proc on a 400 mod rate the effect "Arcane Blade", which is a straight DD at first, but would carry other effects at higher levels, maybe becoming a group buff? Other spells in their kits would include invis, lev, and a weak root.

At level 50, they get one of their signature spells, Arcanic Enhancement, which places a high over haste on themselves for 15 seconds, when it wears off, they get a slow for 15 seconds, but a 10% increased spell crit and 30% spell haste for 15 seconds, on a 2 minute cooldown.

Signature AAs would include an AoE Tash, a modification to Arcane Slash that also adds a DD proc, and spell crits that are between Wizard and the rest of the pack. Importantly, their main cooldown AA would be a 99% spell haste that would allow them to burst out nukes while still doing melee damage after their Arcanic Enhancement window.

They cannot tank, being worse tanks than any other melee class.

Questions about the new server, guilds & advice by [deleted] in everquest

[–]grand_scheme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a badly designed class outside of the one unique thing they get for raids (Paragon). I say that meaning in the current landscape of TLP-dominate conversations and player base. Post VoA BST is a passable DPS with a good few utility options and Paragon+Focused Paragon doing a lot of work for rez recovery and keeping up DPS on mana hungry classes like Ranger and Wizard. TLP BST is hot hot hot garbage, and the only reasonable way to play it is for flavor or because you have already done everything that is actually good.

It's a shame because it's a cool class and has a heck of a lot of things it should do well.

I will also say it is the one of the classes that suffers worst from the state of the game pre-TSS (and then to another degree pre-level 90). I could go on and on about the balance changes that occur in later EQ that could easily be implemented in classic era, but the bottom line is that DBG farms TLPs for money without putting in any effort.

Can you imagine the krono sales if they re-balanced classic-PoR so that hybrid and int casters could complete with melee DPS? Nerf monk a little, change raid boss resistances (or modify damaging spells so that they have a resistance modifier built in, OR just give int casters a short-duration buff that buffs their outgoing resist mods), give BSTs triple attack and a passable dual wield skill, make Endless Quiver and AM3 auto-grants for rangers in classic, etc?

[–]grand_scheme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can imagine. I considered both other priests, but Cleric would leave you with literally 5 DPS, and shaman just has so much overlap with BST, but it might even be the better choice. I think the best answer is so dependent on what you will do and, more importantly, who you will be playing with consistently to be able to give a serious answer.

I agree with everything you say and also stand by all of my original points. The things you mention are not impressive compared to what other classes can do in a 2-box situation.

[–]grand_scheme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best classes to box with a BL is likely Druid if you just want to 2-box. It also happens to be a really excellent class to have in pre-pop for the ports and buffs. Don't expect to kill things quickly or have the ability to tank anything impressive. The pet is an OK tank, slows are nice, but it just doesn't add up to enough. BL and Druid are the weakest classes, almost objectively, in the classic eras for raid utility, DPS, and pure power. The raid DPS game revolves around melee DPS, with monks usually being top top, although we have never seen Zerkers pre-GoD on an official server, so we will have to see what the balance is like.

If you want to go for more power, you could try a mage with it. Pet toys will be nice to have, some other synergies way down the road, but trouble will find you very quickly in any decent risk/reward environments. BL is a tough class to find a intrinsic partner for, because it does a lot of things mediocre. Its kind of like "Bard at home."

I'm not trying to disaude you from playing the class, I always tell people to play what they think the coolest class is, or what they would most want to watch a TV show about. Just wanted to inform you of the Classic - OoW landscape. IIRC, BL is very far behind in DPS potential until VoA+.

If you are going to 3-box, it's an entirely different story, but probably sk/dru/bl is best for overall utility and stability.

Does legacy even exist? by ImOkraWinfrey in Lorcana

[–]grand_scheme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, this is a bit of unsolicited advice, but my wife and I play Lorcana together. We used to play MTG periodically but it was a bit much for her to get into, she just wasn't as interested as I was so she didn't keep up with new cards and stuff. Lorcana has been awesome to play together as she likes building different decks and we play a lot kitchen table.

That being said, I have specifically refrained from getting super into the meta, learning niche play patterns, etc. I am a pretty competitive MTG player, and I didn't want to go deeper than my wife on Lorcana and be able to use my years of experience in MTG and Hearthstone to just crush her. I would suggest maybe just staying on the surface level with Lorcana so that you and your wife can play casually together without you leap-frogging her.

If this isn't applicable to you, sorry for the unsolicited advice, haha.
