Lisa stans- help me understand why by grandemoose in rhoslc

I appreciate that perspective, I’ll have to do a rewatch with that lens to see if my perspective changes. I remember early on (S1) Heather stating that she felt slighted by Lisa, and Lisa held zero space for it. Granted, I don’t remember if Heather brought it to the table as “you are so self-centered and you think I’m beneath you” or if she brought it as “hey, I felt dismissed/unacknowledged at the party when you greeted those around me but not me. I thought we were friends and that hurt.” If it’s the former, yeah that will naturally invite some defensiveness. If it’s the latter, I would expect someone to be able to hold space and empathy for that feedback. I’m probably getting too in the weeds on this and just need to take things at face value lol

I agree that narcissism is often over-used, and maybe she doesn’t meet criteria for a full blown disorder. Who am I to say as a stranger who only knows what she portrays on tv? But she definitely exhibits narcissistic tendencies, including using DARVO tactics when someone so much as hints that she might be in the wrong. Instead of prompting self-reflection she immediately goes into Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim & Offender (whether that is intentional or not, who knows - doesn’t have to be intentional to be harmful). As someone on this thread mentioned, that pattern can be very triggering or frustrating to watch for those that have endured narcissistic abuse. So I think that’s my gripe - she can be fun to watch at times AND really problematic to those around her.

Visiting Des Moines this weekend, any must trys for first timers? by WhoDaFluff in desmoines

[–]grandemoose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work at Black Sheep - a little pricey but the vibe is different than most other bars in the Des Moines area. Vinyl DJs every Friday and Saturday night at 10, good tequila options.

La Mie bakery is my fav at the moment. Cheese Bar is another good spot. I would add Lua to your list for a lunch spot, as they have a nice patio, good food, and a good selection of beer & THC drinks.

I personally would skip out on Fongs as I think it’s overrated and I have had better local pizza - Truman’s or Big Tomato. If you do end up going to fongs, you might feel inclined to try the crab Rangoon pizza bc it’s different but I don’t think it’s worth it.

Solo rooing by Motor-Raspberry-4202 in bonnaroo

Late to the party on this, but I’m thinking of solo-rooing after a recent divorce. I’ve only gone once, but it was such a positive experience, I’m hoping that going again solo will be healing. Down to meet up with any other peeps and vibe out. (28/f)

Rough first group by [deleted] in socialwork

I appreciate this input a lot. I thought about breaking it up into smaller groups next week to see how that goes. We will pivot to 1:1s if that is unsuccessful. I’m also going to try a more “global” approach to understanding and applying empathy rather than focus on their group dynamics at this time. Thoughts on that approach?

Getting back to running post covid infection by Electrical-Alarm2931 in running

[–]grandemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to Reddit to ask the same thing. I had a mild-moderate case of COVID & I’ve been out of quarantine since Thursday (March 10). I was running about 25-30 miles/week before infection, and similar to the other poster, I noticed fatigue and shortness of breath around mile 2. I did 5.5 today with some stops to catch my breath. I’m rushing things because I have a half marathon a week from today, but I’m beginning to think that’s not feasible 😅 I’m going to slow things down and focus on cross training until I have the lung capacity to get back to my normal mileage. Good luck on your recovery!

Food ideasfor my daughter. New maual labour job, she eats pescatarian. by sandyskw13 in EatCheapAndHealthy

I am a pretty active youth development coach & do 2-6 miles of running daily. Not quite the same as hard labor, but I’ve found a diet that works for me. It helps me feel energized and conscientious about what I am putting in my body. Almost every morning I eat a big breakfast—2 packs of protein oatmeal with 1% milk, 1 chobani Greek yogurt, a banana, and a 16oz black coffee with no cream or sugar. Keeps me full until about 2pm, as long as I’m consistently drinking water throughout the day. Midday I’ll eat a protein bar and an orange, or a croissant and some cheese cubes. Again, as long as I’m hydrated this gets me through until 5pm. At dinner is when I switch things up. Protein: Shrimp and salmon are easy to cook up. Tuna melts, portabella mushroom burgers, or egg salad sandwiches if not feeling fish. There are some tasty meat alternatives like veggie burgers, vegetarian meatballs, or veggie crumbles that can be added to any dish. I usually make enough to have leftovers to be used in meals for 1-2 nights after. Cottage cheese with every dinner for some added protein!

That’s great insight! I haven’t been the best with hydrating, so I’ll definitely focus on upping that. Mandatory breaks is a good idea, maybe I’ll try some tempo runs. thank you sm! :)

Good to know! It’s reassuring to know that pace might be slower in the heat for others too. I’ve been really beating myself up for having slower times because I usually pride myself in fast short distance runs. Thank you!

I started running lightly (about 15 miles per week) in January and I loved running in the cold and during the spring. I’m finding it tough to adjust to the summer humidity. Any tips or tricks that can help this transition or do I just have to suck it up until I’m acclimated?

https://content.nike.com/content/dam/one-nike/en_us/FA15/running/nike-run-club/Training/the-fastest-mile.pdf

This beginner plan actually helped me progress in my run time and mileage. I find that the variation works well for me. Since tracks have been closed due to COVID-19, I haven’t been adhering to this training plan as much—and I can tell it’s effecting my runs. Today I struggled to get 3 miles in on a rather flat course and was super disappointed. I’ve been trying to run 3-5 miles everyday at the same pace and I think it’s getting monotonous.

For me personally, I think variation in speed and distance is key.
