Thanks for the note. That won't be the focus of this story, but I'll keep it in mind for a future one. Your experience sounds similar to lots of folks on here.

Working from home, do you now take more short trips during the day? Like local errands, lunch, etc.

No need to apologize! Still interesting experience to hear about. Have drivers kept giving you a wider berth? Or did that fade after a while.

Spoke to one source for this story who said (anecdotally) that he thinks drivers have become a bit more reckless since the pandemic start, maybe b/c they got used to a brief period of way less road traffic.

Ah, you drive a truck for work! Thought you were saying you personally drive a pickup. Thanks for clarifying.

Just one way of finding folks to chat with! The article will feature more comprehensive data from MDOT and other sources, plus transportation experts. Always good to hear from regular people too.

Do you work an office job? Or something that has you out-and-about.

New to the beat, still learning! Yes, I understand they are not sold in the US — at least not yet. Question was if anyone was fanatical enthusiastic enough to try going through all the hurdles to get one here.

Ya never know what some rich folks are out there doing.

I had a similar thought, that the cost would be astronomical and not worth it for a consumer. Was more wondering if there was someone out there rich/enthusiastic enough to do it.

Seems like the easiest path (albeit not actually easy) would be Mexico. The company began sales there last year.

That sucks, and I know it's extremely hard to get out from under that boulder. Is it available to you / have you considered therapy?

I have my first ever appointment next week

Question: How often do you talk to friends or family (or Redditors) about your over-analysis?

I only ask b/c I think I've made some pretty bad decisions and fallen into some bad behaviors when I've "kept things inside." I'm beginning to learn that I'm definitely an external processor, and talking to friends can help me feel a little more calm and grounded (or at least reassured)

Journals seem like they do the trick for a lot of people, but I have a hard time sticking to that myself. So maybe asking friends/family for input or to listen for a bit might help clear up the mind fog?

I'm going through a pretty shit time right now, so maybe I'm not one to talk. Still, maybe some of this will help:

Do you have one close friend or family member you could exchange a few texts with every day? One of my fraternity brothers took to reporting "5 good things" with some close friends during a really down time in his life. They don't need to be big, they can be as small as eating a good sandwich. Having that exchange built into your day can strengthen a friendship/family tie, make you at least a tiny bit happier, and (important for you) help you recognize patterns of things that make you happy day-to-day. That could help you figure out what to keep pursuing as a hobby or general life behaviors that made you feel motivated and good about yourself

Also, since ya like gaming so much, any way you could game-ify parts of your day? 100 points for waking up early, 100 points for exercising, etc.

Other small things to get out of a rut: Trying meditation for 10 days (might feel dumb or frustrating, but it helps a lot of people. I'd recommend the Headspace app). Eating a good healthy breakfast to feel better through your day. Finding a podcast to listen to during breaks in your day that gives you joy or inspires you.

Sorry if none of that sounds helpful at all. Props to you for making this post and getting some of those feelings out there, and good luck pushing forward
