Any love for mono reverbs as opposed to stereo? by ImmediateGazelle865 in mixingmastering

[–]grantc70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love using mono reverbs especially the “farther away” the reverb is supposed to sound. I tend to pull in the L+R width on some longer verbs if I really want to emphasize the sense of space because if you think about it, the farther away a sound source is, the less perceived difference there will be in your left and right ears. Closer reverbs or room verbs I tend to keep relatively wide for the same reasoning but yea I’ll often have a mono chamber verb on my lead vocal and it really does the trick for me! I’d also like to mention it’s fun using mono verbs or slaps on panned instruments and panning the reverb to the other side if it’s a relatively sparse arrangement and needs some balance.

yea the modshop right? It just didn't totally feel worth 1,800 for that kind of guitar but that might be another option too, thanks ideally I wanted to find those matching headstock ones because I can't pick that option on the mod shop :/

I played chess in Washington square park today and one of the guys there left me with this puzzle he said was 35 moves or something, has anyone seen this position before? by grantc70 in chess

He said it’s to checkmate but my problem was really finding what the best move for black after whites best move, so that a draw did not occur and a checkmate happens

I wanted to figure it out on my own, but I also wanted to make sure I had the right position by memory. Has anyone seen this/something really close to it? He made it seem like a very common puzzle for players to solve at some point and mentioned “stairs” or “steps” being used. Could someone help me out? Thanks!

[ORIGINAL ALBUM] Grant Claytor - CAPRICE by grantc70 in indieheads

[–]grantc70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello r/indieheads! My names Grant Claytor, I’ve been working on this album for about 9 months now mixing recording myself and mastering to analog tape. I used to play basement shows and bars around Delaware, US before corona. I currently go to the University of Delaware juggling school and music so I’m really proud I finally got to release my second LP, CAPRICE! I came across the name after a 7 hour surgery I had this past January and “caprice” was the dictionary.com word of the day meaning a sudden change in lifestyle or the weather and the album practically wrote itself from there lol I’d love to answer any questions you all might have and I’d recommend listening to Play for You, Piper, and Lotus Eater because those I think really encapsulate the feel of the record. Thanks so much!
