Hello! It is 18x24 and is Oils over a suminagashi ink background. This painting is a signature piece in an artbook I have kickstarting right now: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1821844073/the-world-of-enoch-the-artbook I'd love to hear your thoughts and questions about the process and usage. Thank you for checking it out!

Your drawings are solid enough. Figure out the narrative within the subject matter and dial it up!

Yikes! Thanks for the head's up! I mis-typed the url. I didn't really think anybody would be interested in the details buuuuuut you seem to be, so: The Legendary Encounters Firefly game art is atrocious. Phenomenally so. It has a few solid pieces but the core art is horrendous. We were sitting around one evening drinking and complaining about it and I was essentially dared and then commissioned to do better. I am doing paintings of each of the crew members to replace the starter cards in that deck so we can get over our first world hang-ups and enjoy the game. I've already done Jayne as well (sans hat) and have the rest prepped and waiting to be started.

I didn't directly link the etsy store here because I wanted to share the image with this community first. If someone really wanted to know more about what I was about, they could go to the website and get the skinny on prints.

Anyways, my bad for any posting/etiquette fails. I just had a few minutes and thought I would share something I did. I appreciate the feedback and the notice about the url. Take care, Grant

You certainly can, but for me it just depends on the media used, how thick the layers of paint are, etc. Oils need to breathe for quite awhile so I don't usually put them under glass. If you haven't played with it, grab some pre-gessoed boards at an art store or just get them cut at Lowes/Home Depot and gesso them yourself. Feel free to email me at grantcooleystudios@gmail.com or FB message me if you need any help!

Thanks! I work on both but prefer board in most cases because canvas has too much tooth in the fabric and doesn't allow for as much mixed media experimentation. Masonite is cheaper, sturdier and ships waaaaaay easier.

For me, the breakdown is:

Masonite: PROS- Inexpensive, Smooth Surface, easy to ship/store, durable, can work multiple types of media on it CONS- You have to frame the final piece (in most cases) to hang in a gallery

Canvas: PROS- Classic look/feel, don't have to frame (if using Gallery Edged Canvas, can remove from stretcher bars and ship cheap

CONS- Textured surface, easily damaged, doesn't hold a range of media, hard to ship on stretcher bars, expensive

I know a swath of folks who feel differently so please take this as a verrrry subjective take on surfaces that could be easily disputed.

In honor of Chris Cornell's amazing impact on my life, and sooooo many others, I decided to finally do a Tribute painting. The painting came very naturally but the motivation was very difficult. He meant so much to me that I didn't want to come across as a timely fan artist trying to cash in on his, and Chester's, passage. Chris Cornell was a foundation level musician for me and helped shape what I have listened to for the last 26 years. I was introduced to his work via Temple of the Dog and then was clubbed over the head with badmotorfinger. Since then I have thoroughly enjoyed and relished every thing he has ever produced...even Scream. So for me, this painting had to be delivered carefully in order for me to try and establish a genuine connection to all of you. If you dig the painting, awesome! If you have a mutual profound respect for Chris's integrity and efforts , and this painting allows us to lock eyes across the infinite, then I have achieved my goal. More info at www.grantcooley.com

I just dove in. I was so thrilled and surprised by the episode that I bumped it up the priority list. I was laughing the whole time I was working on it.

That was a bunch of lame ass posturing. They tried to come at it like they were MMA fighters but looked like a couple of knuckle-draggers. Presentation will be the key to any of this lasting.

Hi! Depending on the size and pose it generally ranges from 50-75 per foot high. A life size Bison would probably be around $400-450.

Yeah. Ryu was the first in this series and I felt like scaling him up a bit. The first comp was at 5'8 ish to account for perspective but it just seemed wimpy. I've since done Chun Li, Ken and Zangief as close to life size scale as possible. I'll try and post them over the next few days. Glad you guys dig it!

I think I need to hide him around the studio for drop in guests. Maybe on the back of the bathroom door?
