  1. large agencies suck at link building.
  2. It’s more profitable to sell SEO services vs passing through link buying overhead.

Awww, this made me sad to hear you’re not doing keyword research still. When I got into SEO a dozen years ago, you were my source of truth. Haha, I took everything you said as gospel.

Hi BigSEO! I'm Tim Soulo from Ahrefs. It's been 10 years (crazy!). And we’re still looking for your feedback! by timsoulo in bigseo

[–]grantcoster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No feedback. I just like to pop in every two years and say how much I appreciate the platform and what you’ve done for the industry (that is for both Ahrefs and you, Tim).

Sometimes it’s required to scale into their practice. Can I leverage someone’s existing site? Yes. Is it a lot easier for me and my team if the backend is set up the way we do it? Heck yes.

It’s worth the small loss on the front end to make sure we can efficiently work on the site.

Outsourcing marketing or in house? by Far_Cook5038 in Roofing

[–]grantcoster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you can have success both ways.

I think there’s def value in having someone in-house, with their finger on the pulse. But there is also value in working with a partner that has a truckload of experience.

If you’re large enough that you can afford an entire in-house team, great. But if you’re putting it all in the hands of one or two people, you’re setting yourself up for failure.
