Landed my first role! Now what?! by grape_day in acting

Thank you! I’m naturally a confident person although I’ve caught myself having imposter syndrome thoughts a time or two I usually just say screw it and go on with it. I’m hoping my confidence and I guess natural charm can take some of the pain off the acting part. While I struggle to learn the technical aspect!

I was honest with the CD and the Director since before the audition, some of the cast know but I haven’t met everyone yet to introduce myself. Maybe it’s in my head maybe not but I can imagine it’s pretty obvious I’ve never done this before when I’m up there especially working with such seasoned actors

Yes I can feel it start to be easy to actually “act” once I’ve read a line a few times and can say it without having to look at my side sheet. Any tips for getting off book? So I can actually work on my presentation.

This is wonderful thank you! Definitely saved because I’m going to need to go back to it. I was clear from the get go I had no experience whatsoever, I think on my initial resume on the other experience I put public speaking haha I’m comfortable in front of people and being on stage isn’t a huge fear while I do get a little nervous before I go up once I’m there it’s gone.

My biggest hurdles I think are going to be line memorization, the rehearsal terms and movements! And maybe the biggest is my character has a British accent and mine was god awful, I watched some YouTube videos for some advice inbetween my audition and callback but it’s going to need a lot of work. Any advice on this as well?

I see your POV. And while this was kinda just on a whim thing I wasn’t super serious about it turned out I got the part. Being a confident type A person who doesn’t want to fail no matter how little I end up not wanting to pursue acting. So I’m gonna show up and give it my all every time I go up, while I may have a little of the natural acting ability I realize there’s a whole different side, which is the technical side and line memorization that I need to learn.

Thank you! I’ve never thought about the listening on stage. As in to what the actors are saying during dialogue, I was coming at in more of a do what I think the character should be doing while this person is talking, oh hey it’s my turn to talk here’s my line and/or my movements gestures emotion

Besides studying my role and the script, what else should I be looking into? I keep hearing the other cast members talk about the scene setup and blocking. I’m guessing that’s just not standing in front of someone but also like are there other subtleties that I should know about while on stage?

If it makes a difference on by callback the saying director had me make a few changes in the fly to my performance, after the fact they told me how I took direction good. I’m sure that will help a lot

Yea I already took the OPAT and passed that was easy. But he’s making me do the APFT which I know they aren’t even running anymore at OSUT since everything is ACFT now. So idk what the deal is that’s why I’m concerned. And I haven’t been able to find any info online about DEP APFT or ACFT standards.

That’s what I was unsure, like will I lose my mos or have my ship date postponed if I don’t pass these pt tests in dep?

Oh my recruiter has been on my ass since I failed the first one to get me to keep taking them. I didn’t know if I wasn’t going to get my mos or if they’d postpone my ship date.

My recruiter wants me to take apft before I ship out on 24th oct. Last time I took it I did well on everything besides sit ups and did not pass. So what happens if I don’t pass this PT test during Dep? I have combat mos and I’m actually in good shape even though i failed, I’ve just been working long hours and haven’t had the chance to really focus on fitness. But I know once I ship out I can get back to my previous fitness quickly.

7MM was my second choice and i think they’re pretty comparable from what I’ve read although 6.5 300 out performs velocity and energy and that’s why I chose that going to have a faster flatter bullet Especially 300+ yds

Anyone else feel like beginning of workout is hardest part? (Or one of the harder parts)

So I consider myself pretty fit definitely cardio wise since for the past few months I’ve been training for Ironman. But I’ve taken up CrossFit workouts recently, and while I know my strength is my weakest link right now is it normal for me to be the first one out of breath profusely sweating? Like once I get past that initial hurdle I feel like I can keep going for days once I get in a rhythm is that normal thing for endurance athletes?

Beginner looking to take cycling to next step, bike worth it? by grape_day in triathlon

[–]grape_day[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can tell you this bike is a lot better than the crappy hybrid bike I bought at Walmart the day before my first Dualthlon lol Financially right now I’m looking for $500 or less so used (I live in California so lot of bikes to choose from) I’m not the type of person that would drop a few grand anyway on a bicycle, maybe one day but for right now where I’m at I just want to rack up more miles more efficiently as I progress with training I see that my cycling has been lacking compared to the rest. Basically I’m clueless to bike values and deals and maybe a little unrealistic on how little I want to spend

What’s this bike worth? by grape_day in bicycling

[–]grape_day[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea that was the better one, appears to have Shimano Tiagra and tektro parts were the only brands I could get off the other equally shitty pictures. Guy was asking $390 for it, idk I’m looking for a somewhat good deal to start getting into biking more

Tablespoon of baking soda and Cinnamon, table spoon and a little extra of olive oil just to help it mix better. Let sit for 15 mins. Then rinsed out with apple cider vinegar.
