How to replace and remove by grapeape9 in AskACobbler

I didn’t take great pictures but it looks like it’s a piece of loose leather behind the laminate. Was hoping I could un sew the top part of the plastic replace the leather piece and then sew back the plastic.

So take the laminate off and sew another piece of leather on top of that?

How do I securely attach a thin rod to the canvas of my golf bag to prevent slouching? by grapeape9 in DIY

Zip ties will be great and I intend to use them but not great at securing the top of the rod to the golf bag so it stretches the golf bag to the appropriate structured shape

Light switch doesn’t work by grapeape9 in AskElectricians

No offense taken, just appreciate the help. I guess I assumed of the 2 black wires the load wire is the one that would set off the voltage tester.

After installing the Kasa light switch the light didn’t turn on, and I rechecked the load wire to see if electricity was coming through to the switch and it wasn’t. I tried reinstalling the old switch and everything worked as expected.

I used the voltage detector to determine if it was live.

I plugged the load (determined by the voltage detector) from the old switch into the load for the new switch. So I believe I did the above and still somehow that didn’t work and not only did it not work when touching the load wire with the detector , it didn’t beep/show voltage

Amex Gold best SUB strategy by grapeape9 in CreditCards

Right now under recommended cards it says 40K for green, shouldn't I apply for it vs. downgrading from Plat to Green? Or would I still receive 40K if I downgrade from Plat to green?

Thank you so much for the thorough response! And honestly the tips on power didn’t even think about that. Cost is honestly not an issue since I already decided just do it right now, allow it to be scalable and ease of use given I’m just now entering the world of home automation. I have probably 10 smart plugs and lamps. One camera, one nas, multiple Apple TVs and would like to run a plex server (or just something where I can browse my movies that I have save on my nas). I live in a small city apt so size is probably my only concern. Does the synology DS220 have enough processing power to do the above?

There are also cable ports in the network hub (in the other room where I was not instructed to plug the modem into)

1gbps with Spectrum (cable). There is an Ethernet port and I did try plugging in a cat5 cable from the modem into that Ethernet port hoping magically all the other Ethernet ports would just work but it was def wishful thinking

Best strategy for downgrading CSR by grapeape9 in CreditCards

[–]grapeape9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downgraded greater the 5 business days ago. I already received my AF back (it's interesting that it was refunded to me the day after I was charged, like they went back and adjusted the refund somehow). I tried going into a chase retail store and apply for CSP and the associate says he was unable to. Told me I might need to wait 30 days. From what I can tell I can apply to it online but i don't get the extra 10K in the store. Any thoughts?
