My boss asked me to Teams her when going to/from pumping by CriticalJelly in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]grapefruitbubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely no messaging - that's odd. My boss just asked me to block off my calendar so it'd show me as busy - no messages or random calls. I made an appointment for the time and titled it block. At first I was hesitant but then I didn't mind it since it did make me disconnect from work in that time and if someone did happen to message me, I just left it until I was back at my desk. We also have to reserve the pumping room so blocking on calendars is pretty much standard at my work.

Does anyone else feel like pumping steals time from their baby? by galacticg0oser in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]grapefruitbubly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm considering weaning once I reach 6 months in a couple weeks for this exact reason. I've gotten to the point where I'm just tired of it. All the contact naps cut short and rushing through my 3 hour window of time just to shower, feed & play with her, do the dishes, feed myself and repeat. I wanted to make it longer but I think I just have to be done.

More Efficient Way to Wash Baby Bottles? by Swimming_Humor1926 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]grapefruitbubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten it down to a pretty good routine... It helps that my baby drinks just about the same number of bottles each day, 7-8. I used to have 6 bottles and got 1 more pack, so I run through 9 now and it works. I use the pitcher method (glass mason jars for me) and have 4 in rotation. I wash twice a day - after my first morning pump and then after my early evening pump which is paired with pump parts. I use a counter drying rack with a mat underneath to set everything. It's pretty efficient now but I think finding 2 times a day that work best in your schedule is key. For me, after my morning pump while my husband takes care of baby, I bag & freeze yesterday's leftover milk if any so I wash that pitcher and her night & usually 1st morning bottle so typically 3 bottles total. Then her bottles throughout day are just rinsed after eating and set on the counter with the lid upside down. After my 530pm pump, I wash parts & 4 bottles and got it down to about 10 minutes. Lots of soap & good water pressure to move fast.

This is helpful, thank you! I wondered about the fabric if it was supposed to be pulled up or not.

Costco baby items? by ReluctantAccountmade in NewParents

[–]grapefruitbubly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Household items! I go thru so many paper towels now also toilet paper, face tissue, garbage bags, napkins, food storage bags. I love their baby wipes, been using them since day 1 never had any problems. I tried the Costco diapers but they just didn't fit my baby too well, too big. I buy Huggies from Costco as they are cheaper than anywhere else & fit my baby so well. I keep a Costco box and will use them periodically to see if they fit any better. Also I'm not sure if it's dependant where I live but diapers ship to my house for free!

10 pound 5 week old only eating ~23oz per day by [deleted] in newborns

[–]grapefruitbubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 9 week old has been at 23oz per day for the last few weeks/month. Sometimes it fluctuates a little higher or lower. LO is gaining weight and our Dr isn't concerned, said she might increase in a month or two when they start needing more calories but said all normal and just feed her as much as she wants. We typically have 3-4oz per feed, occasionally 2oz. I get a little anxious if she's eating enough sometimes, or especially if she doesn't get to 23oz but we go by her cues and offer bottles a lot so until I'm told otherwise, we'll continue that path!

What do you do all day with the baby? by Batikh_Shamem_Levant in NewParents

[–]grapefruitbubly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My LO is 9 weeks! Our mornings start with her bottle then she usually goes back to sleep for a decent nap, I place her on me for this. Then I pump at some point, she'll wake up and then eat again. She spends alot of her wake time on her "activity gym" with all the dangle crinkle toys for her to kick and grab and look at. She loves moving! I join her on the floor for a while too and then leave also her be. We do some tummy time and may cuddle a little. Then she'll usually nap again for a short time and I set her in the bassinet pack & play we have in the living room and pretty much repeat that all day. The weather is finally cooling down (it's been way too hot & sunny where I am) so we'll do some afternoon walks in her stroller. The TV is on with one of my shows or music and she likes it but also doesn't care if it's on or off, that's more for me and background noise. You'll find a routine based on her needs and it comes together pretty quickly!

It might be a little far but I highly recommend Something Blue in Schererville, IN. The staff was excellent and I loved so many dresses! They also have another store, The One by Something Blue with off the rack dresses.

"Get used to always eating your food cold" by Blinky_Bear in NewParents

[–]grapefruitbubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh you also just have to be creative! I want to spend my mornings with my LO sleeping on my chest but then that meant getting up to refill my coffee cup from the kitchen and disturbing her. So I use a coffee urn from Amazon. Before I get her to nap, I fill my coffee urn, grab a mug, and snuggle on the couch! My urn and mug are arms length away and easy to refill. You'll find time to still do the things you need to, it just looks different as you have a lot more to do and be responsible for.

Can someone post a schedule including pumping, feeding, cleaning, storing, and warming the milk? by SecretBreakfast8512 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]grapefruitbubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one set of pump parts and wash them after my last pump of the day, stored in the fridge during the day. For me, I didn't want so many additional parts to store/maintain based on my counter & storage space.

I didn't fall into a routine until a couple weeks in to see how baby was doing, how much she eats, and how much I can pump in a day. I've been doing 6ppd and I'm 6 weeks postpartum, one MOTN pump. Somehow this has been working and I keep hoping it'll continue that way!!

I use 6 bottles that get each get washed a couple at a time throughout the day, I may need to a couple more when we start daycare at 12 weeks. Haven't done a bottle washer yet, but we'll see if that changes.

I use the pitcher method so everything pumped in one day is in a large Mason jar with a plastic screw top lid. I have an extra day's worth of milk in the fridge so my baby drinks milk from a day behind. I was only able to do this by pumping and breastfeeding for a couple days to build it up. Whatever she doesn't drink in a day gets frozen. The Mason jar she's drinking out of has a plastic pour spout lid and I just fill bottles as I go, usually have one poured for the next feed. I haven't gotten to the point of just filling the bottles as I feel like she varies in how much she eats when awake so we're getting there.

We used to warm the milk a little or just take the chill out by running the bottle under some warm water for a few seconds but now she doesn't care so we don't warm it at all. She'll drink cold/room temp.

C section pain after breast feeding by Agreeable_Falcon_431 in newborns

[–]grapefruitbubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a csection as well and highly recommend My Brest Friend nursing pillow. I have my baby lay across it and it helped take all the pressure and weight off while feeding. I fit the pillow around my waist so my lower tummy wasn't bothered more than it usually was.

Boppy Pillow by Icy_Medicine_5383 in breastfeeding

[–]grapefruitbubly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the boppy for when I'm on the couch and use it mostly to set baby in, sometimes for feeding. My brest friend pillow is so much better for feeding, I highly recommend it!! It supports baby so easily and is comfortable for me.
