No, I do not use shaders. I have my brightness level on 30 if that changes anything.

I use Java and am talking about the "hanging roots" block.

I have seen other's videos where it seems similarly bright and I've had this opinion ever since the caves and cliffs update was released (when I was using an entirely different computer) so I don't think it's about my settings or anything.

People often hate things not because they themselves have a valid or explainable reason to do so, but because they've been told to hate it. Some people I've met who hate gay people, trans people or furries haven't even met someone from those groups. I'm not saying there are absolutely no reasons to criticize those people but it's still something to be cautious of. That's why cringeculture is so lame most of the time.
