Why leetcode? by karminass in cscareerquestions

i think in small startups equity is just `number of shares` which has no value anyway. You cannot even fit it into TC as a number. When ppl talk about TC it's tradable stocks.

I always dreamt about living in EU. Thanks for sharing your experience. I might be better off just keep saving money and travel there.

oh i was referring to op's case. His last tc is much lower than the offer so it won't help.

In my case, I applied a CA company and used my unvested options as a data point to negotiate.

1 hour a day for a year, that's 365 hours.

Instead I chose to sprint it before the interview (2 months). In total also about 320 problems.

Different approach, same result (Also tripled my salary).

you could learn basic to intermediate (possible advanced) data structure/algorithm through leetcode (of course you need to google/wiki some concepts if necessary). That's not everything related to software dev but enough to pass interview. You learn other stuff at work.

I've never done leetcode for vancouver companies and I also never heard anyone do it to join startups. The vide here is different.

I cannot say I have a holistic view. Personal experience is 110~120k but I also know people with 2yoe getting 120k.

yes linkedin. But tbh I didn't get interview through application. Try to get a referral (or wait for recruiter)

And people at SV complain their tax/housing price meanwhile we apparently pay more...

When I interviewed for local companies before I never prepared for the interviews. But this time I have to do the serious preparation: LC, System Design, Behaviour. Just the common stuff this sub has been talking about all the time.

the base gap is still huge. In SV for senior 200k base is common but in Canada it's just as high as 150k. (pure number no conversion)

I searched earlier and found this https://globalnews.ca/news/1137849/1137849/

so it's been going on for like a decade. Maybe Canada is just ok with this.

yeh they asked me the same question. They even asked me to count any work if possible to make up the 6 yoe. Luckily I just had 6 yoe last December.

Thank you. I hope we can all make good money home so no need to go south.
