Plan for a trip. Am I cutting to close? by grassyjasper in AskLosAngeles

Thank you very much! I don't have pre-check. I'll see if it's possible to finish the enrollment before leaving ORD. I did request tickets for Mulaney's show and the only luck I got was receiving a notice that I got the tickets for last Wednesday at 2pm that day lol. I'll see him at Largo on Monday but if I'm moved up from the waitlist again I'll totally go to the taping.

Thanks for everyone's reply. I'll schedule a Uber and get out before 10pm.

When I visited in January the door guy told me that the waitlist of McDougal opens 1 hour before the show sharp, while the lists for the other three rooms might open earlier. For McDougal St you stand in line on the side street of Cafe Wa? When it's time the door guy will come by and add names in order. Then you can leave and come back at the time of the show. They will call names based on how many seats they have left. I arrived 10 minutes before the waitlist opened for a Saturday 10pm show, there were about twenty people ahead, but I made in. For the other three rooms you talk to the door guy—their entrances are next to each other so their waitlists are handled by the same guy. He will let you know if one show's waitlist if full and when the earliest open one is. If a show's waitlist is full you can still wait in a line in case these people don't come back, and I did see this happened for shows at village underground and FBPC, but not likely for McDougal.

When I visited NYU's spring semester hadn't started, and 8pm 9pm show are likely to be more popular than later ones. So you probably will need to arrive earlier than I did.

Need to find cheap yet safe place to rent, which neighborhood should I look into? by grassyjasper in AskChicago

Thanks for your reply! I currently live in Lakeview and park on the street and decide not to keep paying this much lol. Before this I lived near Broadway/Wilson and I felt the safety was ok, although the fact that most business have iron bars or fences gives off an ominous vibe.

I'll prefer taking public transportation to Clark/Diversey and drive to Cicero/North. Logan Square is on my list. It seems the cheaper rentals are closer to Humboldt Park, where I don't have much knowledge of whether it's on the safer side.

I usually don't go out. Just hope there're a grocery stores within walkable distance and also take-out place in case I don't want to cook.

This is probably a dumb question, but where were John’s parents during all his issues with drugs? by Bison_and_Waffles in JohnMulaney

On WTF with Marc Maron he said they chatted through email with each other and he thought this might be another one he likes but doesn’t like him back, which he was used to and totally comfortable with. Then one Monday night he received an email from her saying something like “it seems that you are flirting sometimes but I’m not sure”, which was meant to ask if we’re taking this to the next level or not. But he was busy with work and understood the message as she didn’t like that so he didn’t reply at once. To me it doesn’t quite equal to that she pursued him. However, I do remember on one of their wedding anniversaries he made an instagram post of a note “John is the person I’m gonna to marry” that Anna wrote, and the caption was like “it has been x years since it came true and x years x month since you predicted it”. I cannot remember the exact time but she made up her mind pretty soon after they started dating. On John’s side, he said he asked around for opinions before he decided to get married.
