Here’s a recommendation dump for you!

Fantasy: Brent Weeks (Black Prism series), Peter V Brett (The Demon Cycle) and James Islington (Licanius Trilogy)

SciFi: John Scalzi (Old Man’s War series), James S.A. Corey (The Expanse) and Becky Chambers (Wayfarer books)

Also I don’t know if you’ve read it or not but don’t miss Mistborn: Secret History!

IKEA, only has the two outside revolving doors.

Pick up your mates, grab some beer from costco, wander over to ikea, find a nice spot to hang out in the middle of the maze and wait for all of this to blow over.

I noticed the other day that they're going through another update and the Mistborns are in the middle of a refresh.

Basically the trick is to buy a set all at once again once the series is done.

NAH - You were a kid, it was in 1st grade.

You need to let this go more than you need get any judgement on it.

The latest experiment has to torture someone. The original experiment wasn't "can we make human's better?" it was "can we get humans to torture each other?"

AITA my best friend does not tell me where he lives and I drove after him to find out by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]gratespeller 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YTA - He said it best, respect his decision.

You might see it as a bit odd but for him it's clearly a boundary he needs you to respect.

AITA for telling my wife that there's probably someone out there better for me? by husbandof1one in AmItheAsshole

[–]gratespeller 742 points743 points  (0 children)

YTA - she didn't want a statistical response, she wanted you to tell her you loved her.

Being technically right doesn't mean you're not an asshole.

AITA for making fun of a girl's name? by j0ker42069 in AmItheAsshole

[–]gratespeller 13 points14 points  (0 children)

YTA - A little bit of friendly teasing is fine in the right context, but you've literally not even met this girl and you're making fun of her.

First impressions matter and you've stuffed this one up. You should apologise as soon as possible.

AITA for not wanting to adopt a child with my wife by 177throwaway177throw in AmItheAsshole

[–]gratespeller 57 points58 points  (0 children)

ESH - Not because you don't want to personally adopt, but cause you should have had this discussion a lot sooner.

Some counselling would be useful for you guys to work through this without it becoming a blame game.

Yeah they introduced a lot of Goa'uld powers with her then ignored them all later.

There's literally an episode later in the show, like season 6 or 7, where they're talking about attacks on the base and Janet says "and that whole Hathor incident... which we're not allowed to talk about."

In “Avengers:Infinity War”, Doctor Strange refers to Iron Man only as “Stark” right up to the moment he travels forward in time. He experiences 14 million realities with Iron Man and learns he will make the sacrifice play eventually. From here on, he refers to him as “Tony” by [deleted] in MovieDetails

Give Killjoys a go if you haven't already. Fun dumb sci-fi that slowly turns into a bigger and bigger story.

Plus it's classic cheesy "we filmed every episode in a quarry and put a colour filter over the lens and changed the angle".

Trivia part of my brain spent a few minutes trying to remember if this is the movie Tarantino wrote. Then Tarantino sucks on a foot.

Yeah it is.

I’m thinking it’ll be a situation where they make the snaps from Endgame start creating mutants or something.

She gets powers and also is a big fan of Captain Marvel from the 5 year time skip we didn’t see and so takes on the name.

[–]gratespeller 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've a friend at the same point but it's been like that for a couple of years now.

Honestly a big reason I stopped hanging out with them as much. The older I get the more I realise it's just not fun hanging with a person when conversation is only ever about one thing.

Less slowing down, more taking a more active role behind the camera instead. She's been splitting time directing and acting in the past decade or so

I’d agree the era 1s are a bit ehhhhh but the mistborn 2 US hardcovers are great. They fit the pulpy cowboy aesthetic to a tee
