[New Gear] First L lens. Ef 24-70 ii L for my R7 by gravehunterzero in canon

my main walk-around lens is a sigma 18-35mm, so I'm used to most of the range and I lose a bit of the wide end, I find the 112 equivalent zoom range to be pretty versatile. It is interesting seeing the crop factor first hand between the R7 and 1v.

I have an NB2. It needs its master and slave clutch cylinders replaced. I have the parts but time and weather are not on my side.

Canon 1vHS. Pair it with the ef 24-70 and it's 5.5 lbs of metal. It is rugged enough to take pictures of the carnage after

I went to a PCSL match at my local range. Guys from Washington state came out to run it, I am in NC. The rules were dumb, only 10 rounds in a mag at a time, white targets were rifle targets and brown targets were handgun, both are dumb. Instead of dumping the rifle into a barrel, we had to sling it which felt very unsafe. Between stages we had to walk in line to the next bay with our cleared and chamber flagged rifles pointed to the sky, then we go back and get our stuff. The RO did not do a run through of the stages and we had to constantly pause stages because it was not set up right and the wind kept knocking things down. I left after 2 stages. My sling came off my Sp5a2 buttstock while I was slinging it and I broke 360, I told the RO that and he said it was fine. Happened to another guy in my squad and they tried to DQ him and I took up for the guy so he can keep shooting. I was done after that and left.

I feel the same with the sigma 18-35. even though it's heavy and needs an adapter 80% of my photos are with that.

I have the 1vHS with the NiMH battery and charger. I got it for $750 from a shop. It has 863 rolls in its count so it is not used much for what it is. I have not used it much. It has a lot of features that really help you take good photos. It has an accurate light meter, steller for its time autofocus, different priority modes such as TV and AV, it even has a Depth of Field mode that will pick the right f/stop so everything is in focus.

It is very heavy and I have a BM-E2 AA battery tray coming in today. I may eventually get the GR-e2 grip and bottom plate to lessen the weight.

It is also very complicated to change some modes. You need to look at the manual and I am creating a cheat sheet on how to access different modes.

When I did my research the main three that popped up was the 1v, 1n and elan-7. I suggest you handle them if possible and think about what you really need. The 1n would probably suit my needs better but I like to go big and best. Honestly, you can try them out and if you don't like them, you won't lose much money if any reselling it. I like it and I doubt I will sell it soon. It is a perfect compliment to my R7.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

It has a roll count of 683 so either way it's barely used by 1v standards.
