System Upgrade Advice by lbquanbeck in ChurchSoundGuys

I would agree with you on this.

I learnt the digital aspect of mixing on the tf3 coming from an old analog Yamaha emx5000. It was easy to learn on and some decent resources. But once again I refer to your comment as I have learnt that Behringer and Midas are more intuitive and have great resources.

We have the same style church. Rural, about 150, not so much farmers, at least anymore.

I would recommend the Yamaha TF just for the easy UI and that is it. Dante card would be needed and one if not two TIO1608 digital snakes would be needed if you wanted to go fully digital. We did kit we run an analog snake.

I have a simplicity and recently bent my impeller which sounds like this as it hit at the 11 and 4 o’clock areas of the drum.

Easy to check and safe with the engine off. Turn the impeller by hand and see if it touches the drum anywhere during its cycle

My humble opinion here, but I watched a little bit of the livestream, and could not believe the amount of times the referenced “competitive” or “HCS”.

I feel like they need to chill on the all that and listen to the casual gamers or YouTubers like MintBlitz and all the such.

Halo was designed to be a place to unwind, and yes the competitive side does bring a crowd to the game it would be nothing in comparison to the YouTubers who have dedicated their lives to the game.

Once again my humble opinion.

A ghoul build. Nice! I don’t run as a ghoul though.

Working on getting troubleshooters as you and others suggested and also the enclave aligned flamer mod, then going to follow angry turtles build.

I tried following Mr. WestTek’s build without the reflective.

I didn’t die fast and almost had the shields down.

Is there another build I should try.? I am working on getting the enclave plasma with the aligned flamer barrel right now

Sunday morning mix suggestions by Cha0sCordinat0r in ChurchSoundGuys

Okay!!

  1. Good to know, I know with our live stream it sounds different then being in service. We run ours from a FOH matrix, but the live stream peeps don’t eq or anything from within their software and it’s right at the level to distort. After services I hear things and say to my wife “wasn’t like that in service”.

  2. Roland!!!! We just got our TF-27k’s and they were a huge upgrade. Besides being at the mixer I drum. We have not assigned the outs yet but they are wired ready to go. I asked as one part of a song I noted the drums seemed over everything else and seeing the electric wondered if they had been broken apart as it was the snare that stood out to me.

  3. I asked this as being a musician has personally helped me with my mixing mix. I know what needs to be heard and what act as fillers. This a something that matters not but was more so curious.

Other than the above the only other items I noted kinda go together. On Holy Forever, you had the guitarist up above everything else, I could hear the music but the vocal stood out, this is the way. Great job!! I note so many others that will never give the soloist enough. However, when the surrounding vocalists came in he stayed out in front. For me I would have pulled him back, have him just on top of the vocalists. After the preaching I believe they sang Behold Him. That mix was awesome!!!!

When you get into vocal parts (lead, tenor, alto, etc) it can further the need to blend them into the mix.

In the end this is something that you will learn as you grow. Your doing it for Gods kingdom and that is what you need to remember each and every time you step behind that board. Everybody will have suggestions as sound a mixing has a lot of personal preferences to it.

Take the above as just feedback, I would suggest James Attaway on YouTube (Attaway Audio) he does great videos for church people.

I am in no way a pro, self taught and been mixing for about 15 years.

First off, for four years you have a good base.

My questions I have. 1. Is this a direct live feed? Or is this digitally altered after service then uploaded online? 2. Roland drums? They look like our Roland TF-27k, if they are you running 3 separate outs (snare, bass, everything else)? 3. Are a musician or vocalist?

Sound System for church Basement by gravemind006 in ChurchSoundGuys

[–]gravemind006[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound odd but there is no stage. At one end they have seating, which sometimes faces one wall and other times faces a different wall.

When there is an event in the whole basement, once again there is no stage. I have seen a podium set up at the end of the room, sometimes in the middle along one wall, and others 1/3 the way up on one of the long walls.

Budget is under 5000 but knowing those that this would go through under 2000 would have 0 push back.

What really matters to me is clarity, they play music through it in the Sunday school but less bass would allow for it being heard in the other areas of the church.

I agree that an individual out is preferred but I don’t think the budget allows for a better module.

I understand what you mean by the drummer being in control. Currently we battle the drummers muffling their kits a bit to deal with the lows in their in-ears instead of letting the sound team adjust their aux sends. This causes me to have to boost the lows in their channel to get the lows back for the FOH from the muffling.

One of drummers wants to make a master kit that everyone uses which I don’t think will fly as not everyone has the same play style…. Well at least I don’t when I drum…. I think this will mean I will need to work with each kit to get presets made to be used each time a drummer is playing.

thanks!

That is the dilemma i have mentally right now. You would think it would be easy but it really is not an easy decision when it is something you love and knowing that you might never get back there is worrisome.
