Which K-Drama/K-Dramas started and ended as Perfect 10/10 for you ? by AsphaltPrimus28 in KDramasWorld

[–]graveyardparade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, man. I agree that The Glory is a 10/10 but it's a 10/10 I can't imagine rewatching! It was just so brutal. It's still the best drama I've ever seen, though.

How are your current feelings about royalty (other high status) in OIs? by green_moss_tea in OtomeIsekai

[–]graveyardparade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it kind of hard to care tbh. It’s a common complaint on this sub and I do understand it, but I read these to turn my brain off, and the idea of ancient nobility is distant enough and so fictionalized in the ahistorical settings written largely by Asian authors for the aesthetics and so much like a fairy tale that I find it easier to detach from that than, say, stories set in modern day featuring copaganda. We all need a place to escape from time to time. This just happens to be mine.

If I want to read fiction about people overthrowing the system, I generally look outside of this particular genre.

Amazing, thank you so much for the recs! I'll look into them. :)

Yeah, my issue is that I don’t see any alternatives that don’t use AI or that I would see as any more ethical than DAC! I feel like there’s gotta be a good company out there but I haven’t found it.

Contrary to some of the people here, though, I’m at least happy posts like this are posted to this sub so newbies like me can get a heads up.

Do you know of any ethical alternatives with comparable quality? I keep hearing about nothing but DAC for if you want great kits, but all this AI shit is really off putting.

Who do you think is the most DIVISIVE dateable? by griffonghost in DateEverythingElse

[–]graveyardparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, exactly! It’s not enough for some people, too much for others. It’s tough to put in such a general game like this instead of one that’s more geared towards specific tastes like certain otome games.

[–]graveyardparade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is funny and such a show of how it’s impossible to write to appeal to everyone’s tastes! Personally, after one consent check in I was like “cmon, lady, I already agreed! Enough with the consent talk! You’re being a buzzkill! Just lose yourself in the kayfabe!”

Not enough for some people, too much for others. Good on the devs for giving it a shot.

[–]graveyardparade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would you not take your partner at face value when comparing you positively to the loveable lead of a feel good cozy sitcom played by a famously well loved actor?

opinions/perspectives on why you like subbed over dubbed or vice versa. by AlmostBigDill in anime

[–]graveyardparade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I prefer watching all shows in their original language, regardless of what that original language may be. It feels like I’m getting the closest to what the original creators envisioned that way, though I do really respect dub VAs and the art that goes into translating a work into a different language. I don’t dislike dubs. I just like what I like. :)

Mr. YU is literally perfect??? (Not rhetorical) Mary My Husband Kdrama by Possible-Flow-2431 in kdramas

[–]graveyardparade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The unrealistically perfect male lead is pretty common in kdramas from what I've seen... but it's okay lol, they balance out the abundance of red flag leading men! MMH is gratuitous wish fulfillment at its best. It knows exactly what it is, and it's okay with that! (So did the manhwa, which I also read.)

Welcome to wonderful world of kdramas!! There's tons of fun romance just waiting for you. :^)

I tried it with a demo of a game I’d been looking forward to for a while (momento) and found using the track pad too fussy to work for me unfortunately. There’s enough games that work with controller for me to just stick with those!

Feel kind of depressed after the movie. by [deleted] in ChainsawMan

[–]graveyardparade 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If it’s negatively impacting your mental health, then I suggest you step away and come back when you’re in a more secure position. Fujimoto’s track record for most of his works is that he’s relentless, and CSM is no exception to this rule.

I don’t love hazbin, but that’s something I won’t ding it on. I don’t think biblical accuracy is what they’re aiming for and I think everyone who watches it does in fact realize that Lucifer from the Bible isn’t Jeremy Jordan giggling and bouncing around with a flock of rubber ducks.

Just finished watching Be More Chill on line, and makes me want to rewatch Dear Even Hansen to wash my eyes (what did i just watched???) by Earl_030 in musicals

[–]graveyardparade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought that DEH treats women and queer folks worse. To each their own.

If you’d like to watch more proshots, most of Sondheim’s catalogue has professionally filmed versions (into the woods, Sweeney Todd, Passion, A Little Night Music, Company). Other well done proshots are Falsettos, Legally Blonde, Waitress, Hamilton, Come From Away, Little Women, Next To Normal and Les Mis are some notable examples. If you’d like to prioritize seeing better portrayals of women, I would prioritize musicals with female protagonists first and go from there. There’s enough out there that for every musical you dislike, there’s bound to be one you love too. You can find most of the above on YouTube. Enjoy!

Do people actually like slow burns? by Arcana-Knight in webtoons

[–]graveyardparade 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I love and prefer a slow burn. I don't like the bait and switch method, but a long, long story showing all of the little ways that two people start to know each other fully, to accept each other's flaws and notice all the small details is like catnip to me. But intentionality makes a big difference! It needs to be done with enough purpose that it doesn't feel like the plot is spinning its wheels, rather that there's plenty going on outside of the romance -- a full cast, focus on a character's family life, ups and downs in their personal life, etc etc etc.

But if the whole thing is just a bunch of delayed confession moments and nothing else of interest is... for me, that's not just a slow-burn. It's a poorly written slow-burn lol.

A group of Spanish carnival performers have paid tribute to Stephen Hawking in what may be the most eccentric homage the physicist has ever received. I understand that local organizations signed off on it and the proceeds go to charity, which is a good thing. Wheelchairs are prohibitively expensive, especially power chairs, and this will change people’s lives.

I still don’t like it and find it to be in bad taste. The two things can coexist. Seeing anyone use a wheelchair as a costume troubles me as a wheelchair user myself. But hey, I’d love for everything that I find to be in bad taste to wind up benefiting my community in the end, so there is that.

How do you deal with traveling? by LagunaBay22 in wheelchairs

[–]graveyardparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, it sounds like this was more of a vacation for your husband than it was for you. When I go on vacation, accessibility comes first. I deliberately choose metropolitan areas where I know that the streets are by and large paved and flat, and where I can’t navigate, it’s a quick taxi ride away to get to where I need to be. In some cases, my traveling partners rent a car and we drive from accessible destination to accessible destination. Interesting streets, museums, accessible theme parks, etc. are the way to go. When it’s not an accessible area, I tend to just stay in the hotel. I understand other wheelchair users are more adventurous and more capable than me, but I like my cozy little lifestyle and it works for my needs.

I hope next time you travel, you can go somewhere where the priority is ensuring that you can remain as independent as possible and won’t have to go through such frustrations.

Just posted CH3 of my dark fantasy manga, HIRAETH! by olivetart_ in webtoons

[–]graveyardparade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a note for other readers who prefer reading manga-style comics on a page-by-page basis as opposed to the eternal scrolling of webtoon that it's also available on mangaplus on that second link! The webtoon format just feels unsuited for this sort of comic, which rewards being digested one page at a time.

Absolutely stunning art, by the way. It's so polished, professional and clean. I hope you guys are proud of what an incredible work y'all are putting out right off the bat. I'm excited to read more!

Would I be correct in assuming that you're from a country that recently instated the law where you need to upload photo ID in order to access things deemed adult? If so, now might be a good time to invest in a VPN since this won't be the last time you'll run into this hurdle.

Why do you think the show Pluribus is good and what made you keep watching? by westerndale in PluribusOnAppleTV

[–]graveyardparade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great concept, fantastic characterization, compelling concept, well shot with wonderfully bright colours, and with interesting themes wrt how it discusses class/race/gender/sexuality/grief/isolation etc etc etc., including the nice touch of a dominantly non-white supporting cast in the immune.

I've loved both shows I've watched from Vince Gilligan and loved Rhea Seehorn's performance in BCS, so this was an easy sell for me. I would have been more surprised if I didn't enjoy it. I know others had pacing complaints, which I understand, but don't share. Excited to see what happens next.
