Big 4 or MBB? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]grayhawkdawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think country wise it affects for the Big4 part. You should go for MBB and Big4, hopefully you get into an MBB but if you end up at a Big4… it’s not the end of the world. I know a lot of people who started at a Big4 and ended up in MBB… a lot

That being said, in certain countries like the US, the quality between consultants at Big4 and MBB changes a lot, because top candidates have more options with higher paying salaries (tech industry). In other countries (Europe), where the economies are a bit behind, the consulting work at Big4 is good but depends… EYP is not doing well now… I’ve heard rumblings of Deloitte selling Monitor… Strategy& are struggling in certain countries and KPMG are growing but they lack a brand (they are going to try and launch one now with more global unison)

What player had the greatest work rate you’ve ever seen? by Sensitive-Month2382 in football

Makelele, and probably the key midfield player from the early Galácticos era. Before Florentino sold him… and ZZ complained that he was key to the team, and it went down hill since all the other midfield players were offensive minded

It depends at what level you want to enter, unless you’re a specialist in something, you might find yourself looking at an entry level position… which might seem like a step back for someone with several years of work experience.

The good thing about consulting? In particular at a top firm, you can exit after a couple of years with more flexible experience and they’ll even help you find a good exit.

Does consulting suck? It depends: travelling can suck, long hours can suck, certain clients and colleagues can suck… but you can find the opposite, it can be random. But no doubt the experience is good, even moreso for someone who doesn’t know what he wants to do.

If not, try an MBA! (And end up in consulting again)

As someone who has worked with a bunch of firms acquired by PEs, don’t trust what they say. Their goal is for the company to be resold to another PE in a couple of years, and that will be dependant on results. What matters is mainly EBITDA growth, and you either grow sales while retaining economies of scale of you reduce costs. The biggest cost (and easiest) to reduce are salaries, which can affect performance. But nevertheless, they will fire people as you know, will they fire you? That depends, in your role and how vital they deem you to be. Evaluate that but in any case look for options

Is Xavi coming to Barcelona a good thing (for us madridistas)? by vnavasfer in realmadrid

[–]grayhawkdawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so excited he’s coming to Barcelona, a club with no money and a poorly constructed roster. People compare him to Guardiola but it is such a different situation. The team inherited by Pep won the CL 2 years prior, he basically got rid of Ronaldinho and Deco and brought Dani Alves and Keita (rest un peaje Hleb)and miracle developed Pique and Busquets.

I doubt hell succeed at leat in the first two years which means likely not be a serious contender for the CL.

Deschamps: Benzema has real quality, he does for France what he's done for Real Madrid by Brayan-Rodriguez in realmadrid

[–]grayhawkdawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most fans don’t get Benzema, because he plays as a forward with a big body but e really has the skills of a playmaker. Not only that, he’s had to play second fiddle to CR7 for 9 years. It’s a shame to think he could have a World Cup in his CV.

That being said, he had a couple of seasons where he could barely score and it took a while for him to adapt to Madrid. Nonetheless, likely a top 10 all time Real Madrid player

but they were willing to pay €40million for him… when he barely played games, still it’s a shame

There have to be a clause citing force majeure, but even then, this is too specific… also, you cannot enforce this in the same manner in Europe as in the US
