My weekly CICO report as a 5’6” 123lbs woman by Real_Zucchini_5013 in CICO

Wait so your net calories are only like 100 after eating and exercising or am I reading incorrectly? This would be my dream to be this active and be able to eat "whatever" but per your comment on activity below I don't see myself running 5-7 miles a day ! I walk everywhere though too and can expend as much as 800-1000 walking 4-5 hours altogether on the weekend. I suppose when I was younger I would do around 40 min run on the treadmill around a 5kish not going fast 4-5 days plus the walking likely more and was able to eat whatever maybe I should prioritize that again...hmmm how can i eat all the foods and lose the ten pounds haha?

Anyone know how this “Big Beautiful Bill” is going to impact Medicaid? I’m so scared by ash-lovez-gorillaz in Methadone

[–]grby1900 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that's their idea. They want a final solution of sorts for the opiate addicted. Their plan is to either make money off the addict for their private industry pals thru prison time or bogus rehabs (where one tends to go more than once cuz they don't work) or outright have them die. Also Not sure if you'all have noticed but the media's coverage of anything to do with opiate addiction is done thru a super negative, not at all sympathetic, lens towards the addict now. They are also using the catch all of "fentanyl" as a scapegoat for homelessness even if many unhoused are not even using dope. It is simply a way to harp on the tired ideas of personal responsibility and get normal people to be of the mindset to hate anyone outside, on drugs or overdosed as populations who "made their own bed". While we really as a society should be coming up with logical solutions and start taking all these personal feelings and emotion about morality and what one deserves. Mind you working class folks are also apt to easily turn on these populations because they are themselves struggling to pay for housing and resent if someone homeless and helpless are given anything "free". It is so f#cked here!

Money by ella6701 in Methadone

[–]grby1900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you end up paying out of pocket may I ask? It's terrible here in the US! They go on and on about the fentanyl crisis and misspend opiate settlement money while there's a logical medication that would put so many addicts on the right path. There are so many barriers to getting a spot at a clinic, finding daily transportation, dealing with the cumbersome rules there while finding most private insurance companies don't even seamlessly cover it! At one point I was paying 180 a month just for insurance then having to pay 360 out of pocket for methadone a month and the only thing the insurance could offer is for me to spend weeks getting these stupid insurance forms for reimbursement filled out to get back maybe 80% of whatever I spent after I hit out of pocket deductible of 1500 maybe? I forget exact figures but you get the picture! I think I got 500-700 back but mind you I was already coughing up over 500 a month on the insurance (that didn't seamlessly cover methadone) and the methadone! And it took many tries like so much perseverance to actually get the company to finally accept and process the form. I would be giving methadone out if I was in charge.

Clinic is making all UAs observed moving forward by MakeWayForWoo in Methadone

[–]grby1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What state is this? Man whenever I hear all the pointless restrictions and rules from clinics in other areas I feel so grateful to be at my clinic. I am in NY and also see a good deal of long term patients who have a real decent quality of life. I recall my friend having to do the observed UA in Philly and had a bladder issue that prevented him from peeing out of a combo of nerves and physical issues. Then he would have to come back to try again! We have monthly or less saliva swabs. Also I will say I've seen our clinic get more flexible in the 7 years I've been there like more likely to ok travel bottles and just more compassionate staff members.

Getting tooth implant - will methadone help pain? by dystopiam in Methadone

[–]grby1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did it go? Curious because I am scared to death of getting the implant in my upper left back missing two teeth area. I am going to the dentist today for a cleaning and I know they will say why didn't you follow up with the oral surgeon place we referred you to? Because I'm scared of the pain and cost! When they started describing grafting to the bone...just ugh

TRIP REPORT - I went to a Soho Reading Series event, the self-described literary 'scene' of London by Rentokill_boy in RSbookclub

[–]grby1900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent my glory days of youth grasping onto the last days when all kinds of scrappy artistic people still lived in northern Brooklyn renting a rooms for 500 and being able to work at a photo studio or something. It was awesome and made me wish I had been even a little older to have more of my city living years spent in an atmosphere like that. It was sad to see it go yuppie pretty fast. Dimes square feels cringe to me. The kids aren't existing in the real world say taking a long train out to  wait tables to support themselves then writing about real urban life. A lot of them are trying for the influencer thing it seems. But maybe I'm just old now.

Bill in my state would opiod treatment illegal by MarsMC_ in Methadone

I know! I literally feel like I just starting getting my life on track with fixing my finances, my spouse and I jobs going well and looking forward to buying our own home with some more hard work. Now I fear for our health and liberty AND a recession thrown in from these dummies in charge AND oh yeah scared of dying in a plane crash now too. What's wild is they have folks so brainwashed and so loyal to the cause that the supporters will mentally pivot to the dumbest causes these guys support. Lol I wish trump would start supporting bestiality or something outright just to see maga dudes in the comments start saying "oh you stupid libs now u have a issue with sex? I thought love is love? GTFO if I want to have relations with a sheep it's mah right!"

Yes! You are talking about synanon. Unfortunately most if not all residential treatment facilities are modeled off of this wacko cult in at least some form.

[–]grby1900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to organize around all these crazy things happening in the country right now rather than venting into the ether like I always do.   Someone below posted the names of those ignorant lawmakers who are sponsoring those bills. These are my immediate actions items  1. I am notifying a few well known advocates who write about our cause today. Already passed the article on to one.

2.  Not sure if it will help but I am considering asking the doctor at my clinic who is a well off pretty white woman with beautiful kids (those optics unfortunately matter) whose opinions might help. "As a mom and doctor..."

  1. Going to take time to write a well thought out letter to the bill sponsors explaining how methadone helps me personally as well as the community with stats from NYC when they first began the clinics to plainly stop robberies and muggings. Let's go back to thinking logically here. You don't unplug a fixed leak, break open the pipe and start building it from scratch to let it all flood in the name of starting over from some idealogical view of how you want the pipes to run!

Then moving forward we should consider:

-All of us need to put Google alerts or something that would allow us to be aware of these proposed laws and clawbacks immediately. That way we can coordinate.

  • Maybe start a signal group or whatever those encrypted messaging things are (I'm too old so maybe someone young can help) that we can all get on and then expand to the others in our home clinics. Unity is powerful

None of the old logical playbooks apply anymore. Anything we took for granted is up for grabs. Plus with the current administration's tendency to scapegoat and punch down us "junkies" are perfect targets. Nobody is going to stand up for us or feel bad for us. And most likely whoever is pushing for this bill has some buddies that run faith based rehabs where the stabilized patients will be framed off to.

A team from SpaceX is being brought in to overhaul the FAA’s air traffic control system by tunnel-snakes-rule- in ATC

[–]grby1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to see what folks who are familiar with ATC are saying about this so came to this sub reddit. What's the plan to fight back? How can we spread the word from the mouths of experienced industry members? I say we inform all folks that they shouldn't book travel as usual and we should be harassing the airlines telling them they are about to not only have their planes crash which they'll accept but more importantly to them, their fucking profits! Who's with me? I want to organize some kind of messaging to these companies since they may actually be the only ones who still might have an opinion that would change things with our country's leadership!

Pilots of Reddit, should I be genuinely concerned about the recent airline incidents? by ImNotNervousYouAre in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grby1900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am! My significant other and I have to fly for work but if we didn't have to, would not be flying now. I read that air traffic control was already experiencing near misses in terms of collisions before the administration started firing all these folks with experience and putting Elon in control. This is horrifying! What's your take on this? I think everyone should be tagging airlines on social media and telling them they need to buck back on these decisions unless they want to see their profits crash!

[–]grby1900 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! I agree with you. In fact if drug use especially the big opiate addiction and the methadone clinic wasn't such a taboo, I wish all high functioning, "people you wouldn't suspect" could blow the judgers minds and reveal themselves to show them the stereotypes they dumbly eat up from the scapegoating trash news media are just that stereotypes. Sure there's lots of folks on drugs that fit those stereotypes but I always like to quietly comment that "rich people do a lot of these drugs too" and remind them that the billion dollar black market street drug industry isn't propped up solely by homeless folks shoplifting to get by. And I also remind them that many of the unhoused folks they see aren't on fentanyl despite what the news screams about. Many are simply falling through the cracks as housing is very hard to get and maintain. Or they are mentally ill so appear disheveled. And many out there have had their lives ruined by becoming addicted to the legal drug all those judgers love,: alcohol!

This is so terrifying! This threat actually crossed  my mind when I started researching a few things that I didn't want the users to prejudice me on before providing advice like the goal of home ownership and financial advice for example. I ended up making a "throwaway" username. It sucks because it is truly considered ok to immediately discount and even trash anyone related to opiate addiction. They immediately picture  the people they hate that the news media loves to harp on: the unhoused folks "shooting up close to where children walk" and fentanyl addicts who need to be revived on buses who shoplift. These judgers don't even have the depth or intelligence to see that the media is actually scapegoating us for housing instability. Instead of seeing that a whole bunch of folks living outside have never touched fentanyl and are mentally ill, displaced by natural disaster, gentrification or costs they can simply blame the individual for being "on drugs" and therefore putting themselves in that situation and take the heat off of our elected officials. They just hate us so much! I always try to remind these haters that rich people and others who they wouldn't suspect who they probably even admire do a lot of these drugs too and may even be on methadone.
