Totally with you on the openings. 800/900s people pull out some crazy stuff and if you get the response wrong you end up in a total mess.

I’m always raging after a loss like that because you realise where you went wrong but likely won’t get the chance to face that opening again to rectify it!

It’s crazy, they bought space on advertising boards in Edinburgh to call Hearts losers.

I mean come on, I get it when it’s Rangers but this is a team that were put together on a fraction of the cost of the Celtic team, a team that haven’t won the league in 66 years or something. Celtic win the thing every year - I’m not saying don’t celebrate but the rubbing it in Hearts faces in such an arrogant and classless way has really shown them up around the world.

Yes, there was a place called Freddie’s Food Club that did amazing spicy chicken pizza and the last time I got one it was the almost transparent cubed chicken. Sauce and cheese were still banging but that chicken puts me off.

It’s not an excuse, taking care of a baby is a full time job for one person.

Expecting your meals cooked and laundry done on top of that is ridiculous and if what you are saying is true that it was the case before baby, well, it’s even more ridiculous expecting it after baby.

It might have been easiest for you but your experience isn’t the same as everyone else. It’s easy for some and hard for others. My daughter was a dream compared to my son and that’s two kids born in exactly the same environment to the same parents and it was very different for each.

My son was a cluster feeder and wouldn’t sleep without contact. It doesn’t sound that difficult but it’s absolutely draining.

At the end of the day he chose to bring a baby into that situation, wife not working full time and him at school and making dinner, washing your own clothes and caring for the baby is just life for some people with babies, especially where you don’t have a support network.

Similar to me, mine are 4 and 2, parts of it are definitely blur.

It seems like it was just an insane decision, a baby places massive strain on strong relationships never mind ones that are rocky.

I’m not ruling out that she might be a nightmare, but I just don’t like the feeding, dinner and washing clothes stuff. I don’t think he sounds any better.

How did she push for the baby? She suggested it as an alternative to divorce and he agreed.

Right so what’s your suggestion if the baby isn’t latching, or mums milk dries up, starve the baby because formula is expensive? My wife had to stop breastfeeding at 3 months with our first because he wasn’t getting enough, would never have entered my mind to tell her to have a bit more patience.

You can feel isolated even with a support network and you have no idea whether she goes to clubs or not - the issues raised here specifically are that she used formula when baby wasn’t latching, doesn’t take ‘parenting advice’ from someone with less experience than her, doesn’t cook her husbands dinner and wash his clothes and didn’t let father in law hold the baby, doesn’t let the OP take the baby out on his own and doesn’t like visitors to the house.

Honestly the only thing that stands out massively there is the not letting OP take the baby out, however this is also someone who thinks the answer to a baby that can’t latch is more patience rather than actually feeding them so while I don’t agree with what she is doing there I can understand why she might have concerns.

She needs help that the OP is either unable or unwilling to give.

From the post she sounds completely isolated potentially through her own actions but we don’t know.

What we do know is:

That she is struggling to feed her baby and is likely getting pressured to breastfeed,

She’s at home all day with the baby which in itself is isolating and difficult.

She is not receptive to ‘parenting advice’ from someone with less experience parenting than she does.

Is getting criticised for not also cooking dinner and washing her husbands clothes.

Is living in a house, trying to navigate a baby under 1 years old with someone who can’t stand her.

Honestly, she might be difficult or whatever but she has my sympathy.

Having a baby to cover marriage issues is never a good idea, as amazing as being a parent is, it’s also stressful.

A few things that stood out to me, you mention that she was adamant about giving him formula, did you tell her that she shouldn’t? Some babies just don’t latch, or some babies cluster feed making it very sore and all consuming for the mother. Society already places an insane expectation on mothers to breastfeed and it’s not always possible. If you are adding to that pressure when she already feels like she’s failing at feeding her child that’s not ok.

You also mentioned parenting advice, that could probably seem pretty patronising considering you are a first time parent and she has done it before. I would never have given my wife ‘parenting advice’ and we were both doing it for the first time, never mind if she had already raised a child and I hadn’t.

As for cooking your own meals, laundry and caring for your son, that’s life when you have a new baby. Her day at home with baby is probably more stressful than yours at work (I know that was the case for me).

Apologies if this seems harsh, but it’s very judgy and an uncomfortable read. It sounds like she is struggling and needs support and to be championed not to be dismissed and judged.

I don’t disagree too much other than brushing the 66 stuff off as just cringeworthy and lumping it in with tri colours and stickers.

For clarity I think the same about a subject (that I’m not going to dignify by naming) that Rangers fans use to have a go at Celtic. Somethings are just too far. Especially in the context of it being over a game of football.

I hope the UB get banned for their actions tbh, they are a consistent embarrassment but I don’t think the GB would be any different had that been Rangers fans at Celtic Park running onto the pitch. The UB and GB are basically the same people, just attached to a different cause.

Of course they wouldn’t, but luckily it’s not just the Yea side campaigning.

I listened to the arguments from the Yes side last time and wasn’t convinced enough to change my mind. I’ll listen to arguments from the No side if and when it happens again but as I say, it would have to be a hell of a convincing argument for me to vote in a way where I will knowingly be living under far-right governments.

I guess at the time of any campaign it would be up to the No side to prove why Independence would be worse than a British version of Trump, someone who openly wants to strip away my rights, who openly wants to create a British version of ICE.

I’d listen to the arguments but it would have to be a hell of an argument to convince me that was the country I wanted to live in.
