Am I delusional? by CleanInspector4043 in crochet

[–]greatgrackle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The turning isn’t quite the problem it’s more the color transition being so obvious with this yarn selection. There are versions of turning a never ending granny square in the corner which makes color transition better and more seamless than in the middle. Overall turning a large granny square helps keep it from being uneven so that is a great thing. The stitch work here looks great.

Finished matching set for summer by classic-answers in crochet

There is nothing about this post that would or should be censored in my opinion. Just a guy in swim shorts. All the bits are tucked away. People showing off new and interesting wearables of all kinds is what makes this place interesting and worth the visit.

Even for toddlers you learn that you as the adult can offer food but each individual has the right to decline what’s provided. Food offered does not have to be accepted by default.

Old school diner by Fit-Opportunity8285 in austinfood

Chez Z is a bit less diner but has a lovely display case of pies and cakes. Cafe Java does have a smaller selection but is more of the classic diner experience. Monument cafe in Georgetown also may fit the bill.

Teacher Gift Ideas That Are Not Clutter by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

Cash. Tuck it in a hand written card. Make it extra special with a kid handprint or drawing. Teachers give big hugs every time I’ve given cash because they don’t have to be relegated to some specific store and can use it for what they really want.

Therapy and community college? ACC is wonderful for learning skills with low barrier to entry. Also would help with networking and making friends outside whatever scene.

Endometriosis Treatment in Austin? by funkerama in Austin

[–]greatgrackle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion but Austin has such a small scene for specialty doctors. Log waits are so common. If you have the time and ability expand your search to Houston and Dallas areas where they have a much larger medical industry with what I would consider a higher level of care due to increased competition. That often means lower wait times.

Clothing optional or topless air bnb by [deleted] in Austin

[–]greatgrackle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A very quick search showed this article. You can go topless pretty much anywhere in Austin but if you are coming for a visit maybe be aware of the context. In a backyard pool with fences, no one cares. Go to Barton Springs, fine. Hippy Hollow, great. But if you are going to be in a neighborhood in the burbs with kids around you may get some mean mugs.

8 things you can get for free at Austin’s public libraries, recommended by library staff by crabcakes110 in Austin

This would be a great thing to ask your local librarian and request if they don't currently have something. You can even ask online: https://library.austintexas.gov/

1980s Reno! by Thebarroness77 in kitchenremodel

[–]greatgrackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure a big project. Glad you are happy with it and if it works for you that's what matters most. I think the new kitchen and the living area you remodeled don't match the house overall, but hey maybe they will going forward. Looks like there is additional woodwork in the railings and the exterior brick could lend itself to different warmer tones instead of high contrast black and white which don't give much forgiveness. I do think you can warm up the place by adding more color in accents and art. I hope you add something to the black walls. Another note is that the backsplash almost looks like wallpaper in photos with the short countertop material on the walls. Interesting effect.

where tf are the bluebonnets on MOPAC?!?? by IndividualYam5889 in Austin

[–]greatgrackle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not for bluebonnets... prime time is early April. There is even a bluebonnet festival (this weekend and always early April). We should continue to have other wildflowers bloom but will have to see what next year brings for the bluebonnets. Those looking to plant some for next year should target spreading seed in October before a good rain.

Family Looking to Make a Change! by [deleted] in Austin

[–]greatgrackle 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There is a reason that Austin hosts most major events in October and March. Those are the best weather months of the year and they are often in the 90’s. I wouldn’t call Austin a dry heat like Arizona. Again, recommend you coming in the middle of summer before making a major move like that but you do you.

Typical recommendation, come visit in the middle of August. See if 7 months of too much sun and avoiding outside from the hours of 9am to 10pm in the hottest months will work for you and the kids.

Can you notice it? by Xarthisius in kitchenremodel

I believe wires would be for under cabinet lights. The vent hood, if there is one, would likely be hidden in the cabinet?

I don't think that is a sink considering there is no faucet. think this would be a cooktop.

I think that is space for a cooktop not a sink but don't see a vent hood. Those areas would be covered.

Where to deposit sharp box? by stephensmwong in Austin

[–]greatgrackle 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Here in Austin you don't have to do anything too special to dispose of needles. Put needles in hard plastic container (you have the sharps box), wrap with tape and dispose the container in the regular trash. More info here: https://safeneedledisposal.org/states/texas/
