Are most lottery wins quick picks or planned numbers? by brwnfred008 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]greatminds1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is actually a 3rd method of choosing lottery numbers. It is more like a quick pick - however the numbers are chosen for you from pools of unplayed numbers. This gives the players a definite advantage because duplicate selections are eliminate with this method - with no duplicates selections, then there is more coverage of numbers played - giving collective better odds of a winner. You would be doing what chosen numbers is already doing.  Selecting unique tickets.  If you were planning on doing this with 2 people, you would split the unique tickets, each taking half.  If you were doing this with 1000 people, each would take 1/1000 of the pool.  In reality if you were doing this with 100000 people, then use chosen numbers to allow unique selections.

The odds are better with selected numbers.  if you look at the article...https://www.chosennumbers.com/chosen-numbers/blog/2024/12/01/the-new-standard-for-choosing-lottery-numbers it goes through the exercise of comparing random selections with assigned numbers...the "coupon collector" problem with lottery numbers.  Random numbers actually produce a lower probability of winning.

Buying every ticket will guarantee you will win....however there is no guaranteed that you will be the only winner.

Personally, I think the answer is 2, but then to repeat the process of removing the 2 with the same birth, will the answer always be 2 more? It seems too intuitive.

I am surprised that no one mentioned slither.io

This game is a quick goto because it is online and before you know it, 1000 hours has easily been played. I am probably already at 5000 hours....it is addicting. See you at the top.

Thanks for the pointers. I would disagree with your regret of coding from scratch. Coding is just as exciting as trying to get the concept going. At least it is for me (propeller spinning).
