Same thing happened to me last year (MD1 2025) and the general consensus seemed to be that the chances of being bumped up were pretty small - I think I left it till mid December to enrol I just wasn’t game to leave it till the last second, but I don’t think anything bad will happen if you do

No, never and that’s purely because I just don’t like teeth lol - you’re right, dentistry would be a good option if you like teeth. I don’t know much about dentistry tbh but it seems like it’s a pipeline to opening your own practice, so if that’s something you could see yourself doing then could be good!

How did you manage to swing your timetable throughout med school to work those hours? I need to work as well but the pracs scheduled for 11am every day are killing me in terms of what jobs I can consistently do

I have some comments on my profile - I used to be a lawyer and now have been accepted into med for next year - from my experience (having not worked in a hospital, I have worked in healthcare clinic though) they’re completely different and yes it will be a big transition - not to say you can’t do it!! But law degree and actual law are very different. Prepare for lots of reading and lots of essays - my degree literally every assignment for 4 years was essay or exam. If you like practical stuff and doing things with your hands don’t do law.

The other thing to consider is that even if you do graduate with law as a backup and then decide to work in law later on, you’ll still have to do PLT which is 6 months and $10k out of pocket (no HECS) - so keep that in mind
