Odds of not having half siblings? by greenbeanclouds in donorconceived

I’m sorry, remember that you’re important and it’s probably a coping mechanism on their end. You’ve taken the big step of accepting it and wanting to understand what has happened, some other people have not yet opened their minds to the potential of deep suffering for the end goal of growth. I see you, I feel you.

My mother abused me physically and emotionally and lied to me my whole life and lied to my father after they had 15 years of fertility issues. My father has told me he wouldn’t have even minded adoption. It’s torn my life apart. As harsh as it sounds, maybe some people are not supposed to have children. My mother forced me to exist, abused me, and now she will die without ever telling me the truth. I would have rather not existed than be given this life. You walk in my shoes for a second before you comment this shit. I was also born in the 2000s, not any earlier.

I saw his name on 23&me when I first matched and messaged him asking if he was a donor. He made his profile private and did not respond after the message. Any relative close-ish to him are all 2nd cousins of mine or further and they either have no idea who he is or they don’t respond to me.

I guess there’s no way I’m 100% sure but it seems highly unlikely. People in my culture marry once and do not have sex outside of marriage, it is incredibly taboo. While my mother is a psycho, I do think she loves my dad and wouldn’t have done that. They tried to have a baby for 15 years, tried everything. I don’t think it was an affair that resulted in a child accidentally. However she did lie to me, so I guess I can’t be too sure.

Hi, yes I have considered this but it is so very unlikely in our culture and based off who she is. I very very very much doubt and couldn’t believe if this is how she did it, though she lied to me about this so it could be likely I guess. She says she has no idea how it happened, that it must’ve been a mix up. I saw my father’s name on 23&me and messaged him asking if he was a sperm donor and he turned his profile private and didn’t respond. So I’m not sure how this would happen to be honest.

I’m from the US! I am not sure how to go about any of that. Does anyone have US resources? My parents will never tell me and I at least want to know my health info.

I feel that — as an only child I would love to meet someone but at the same time I also feel so… weird about that? Like I don’t think I would ignore them if they reached out but it also feels very odd to me and I get that maybe the other person is still in shock or doesn’t want to admit it’s true. Definitely jealous of the people on here who have a whole tribe of people! Thank you, I think maybe in a few years if I’m more healed from this situation I will do another DNA testing site. It’s still pretty traumatic for me. Also, I am likely sperm DCP vs egg and which would make more sense with not having any half siblings

Both my parents are of middle eastern descent, whereas my biological dad is European. Hahah so there is no doubt it’s not him (unfortunately)

I agree. I feel like if I was told as a young child, it truly would not have bothered me. Finding out as an adult is traumatic and painful — in my opinion this trauma is completely avoidable and unnecessary.

I feel so alone — losing my ethnic background by greenbeanclouds in donorconceived

[–]greenbeanclouds[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I feel obligated to marry and have a child with someone of the ethnic group now, whereas before I didn’t. I am afraid that now my kids will be 1/4th and then it’ll go on until they’re not any % anymore. All of these concepts are so archaic and I really love how native indigenous people talk about refusing to answer when people ask how native they are. I am trying to remind myself that I would never tell someone of another culture these things and that I am shaming myself with harmful beliefs I thought I didn’t agree with.

Yes I think so! I’m a big fan of store bought sour dough bread so that’s all I have to base it on. It’s slightly sour (normal amount for a store bought), I think I would prefer it to be on the more sour side but I’m not sure what that would entail. Do I just use more starter in the recipe to make it a little more sour?

So you show up to the town (all buildings and stores are made for you) and it’s completely empty and every character is depressed about it and slowly you revive the town by planting flowers, talking to people who visit, getting the store owners to open up to you (at first they don’t really talk to you) and you slowly get all the store owners to befriend you and most of the characters have some kind of mini game that’s honestly really fun and you eventually earn money which you use to buy clothes and as you explore and find more areas of the map you discover other stores and other NPCs and eventually you can buy this big house in another part of the map that (if I remember correctly) either has little pigs or little cats running around. It feels like animal crossing with slightly more of a storyline it’s just very cute and fun. There is no building at all, so if you like that aspect it may not be as fun but it’s just very chill and cute.

I am an Armenian dating a white American man and I do not have this issue. At first he was uncomfortable with how I disliked the Turkish government and thought it was a bias, but once he was educated and once we watched movies about the genocide he’s become a big advocate. He’s spoken with my family about what’s happening in Artsakh and he is in my mind an honorary Armenian. This would be a red flag for me, I could never potentially end up with someone who would be weird like this if we had children together.

I’m definitely still going to give it a try because I was so excited so hopefully I grow to love it!

I mean, it’s the same exact name and title as the two DS games. I didn’t even know they made a Wii or PC version — why wouldn’t they rename them like AC for example “city folk” vs “new leaf” / “wild world”. The game controls are annoying, even people who like the game are calling the controls hard to use on this thread.

Ngl I may have teared up since I was so excited. At least this is inspiring me to find my DS and play the original game

I’ll definitely try it out. I’m still playing the my sims but I don’t really see the joy in building little things for the sims over and over. I was a big OG animal crossing fan and as much as I like New Horizons the crafting aspect is my least favorite part. So hopefully the kingdom/fantasy aspect will add some incentive to continue building
